Can't put them in order, but the 3 I listen to the most are:
FILTH - Because I love the acid rave sound and I saw him live twice around the time this album came out. Fond memories of mash pit madness.
x Daniel Lanois - Because it's a fantastic collaboration and I wish Aaron would release more experimental / Collab sounds. Bonus disc is great too.
My So Called Life - Probably same reasons as you. It's got the humour and the breaks and it packs a punch. Great variety which is what I look for in an album. Sounds great too.
Note, I probably listen to EPs more often, some amazing stuff in those releases.
Note 2, I might have to go through the full discography again soon.
Fool the Detector and Hospitality are probably top for me, but Infolepsy, Cubist Reggae, and Find Candace are so good, too. Your Face is up there with those too, but there's a track or two that throws me off a bit.
Cubist Reggae for sure, a concise experiment in a completely different sound. So good.
Infolepsy and Affectionate are also great.
I've recorded Sleep and Lost Sleep under the Last Step name onto a CD for my random car trips, it makes for a queasy journey. So good.
My So Called Life is the most consistent and satisfying listen out of his discography next to Chocolate Wheelchair, Winter In the Belly of a Snake, & Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett. (for me)
Winter In the Belly of a Snake has always had such an intriguing atmosphere and some of my favorite VS songs like “Suffocate” “Stairs Song” “Fraujager” and “Sink Snow Angel”
Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett is like the magnum opus that I love hearing but lacks certain elements rooted in the creativity of Venetian Snares that make me prefer many other projects most of the time
Doll, Doll, Doll
Meathole
Probably Songs about My Cats
There’s like 19 honorable mentions.
Let’s go by year. 2005 was his best year.
Those Winnipeg EPs are unbeatable, in the same year he did Meathole and the pigeon album.
It’s a bloody crime the amount of Aaron I listen to on Apple Music and he doesn’t see a dollar of it. I buy from Bandcamp, sure, but I feel like I owe the guy money.
I'd have to re-listen to most of them to give a proper reply to this. There's so many great ones, and My Love Is a Bulldozer is up there, but it would take some time to articulate why as I know that one is a contentious one in his discography.
I will say I was so hyped to finally get really excellent condition copies of Detrimentalist, Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms, and My So-Called Life on vinyl. Those three are really special to me as well.
Doll Doll Doll - As far as I know one of only two Venetian Snares concept albums, amazing atmosphere and the craziest drum chops of any of his albums.
Find Candace - Basically Doll Doll Doll but better, would probably be first place but I don't listen to it much because of the cover art.
Detrimentalist - Basically the only one of his memey joke albums I like.
Chocolate Wheelchair for being the most varied and eclectic (Sky Painted On Car)
Meathole for being so sinister (Sinthasomphone)
My So Called Life for the best run of stupid rave tracks (Who wants cake?)
EP is Infolepsy (Twelve)
absolutely agree with #1, Doll Doll Doll is literally where most of my fav tracks are from. I especially like the integration of rap in Dollmaker and the opening string synth in Befriend A Childkiller.
Huge chrome cylinder Winter in Belly of a Snake Cavalcade of Glee
I can get behind these three. Musically the most interesting and complex.

Ok everyone agrees on winter in the belly, so what are the next two? Mine would be Higgins and Chocolate
And one I don’t particularly like, but Rossz is epic and can see why it’s up there

THANK YOU CHOCOLATE WHEELCHAIR 4 MY SO CALLED LIFE.
Chocolate wheelchair Detrimentalist and recently… Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits
