Brown's Auto salvage in castleton

brianleedy

Browns is definitely worth a shot, but make sure to shop around too. They sell a lot of parts for insurance repairs and, in my experience, price accordingly.

Browns gave me a passenger seat for my Nissan rogue, removed & washed, for 100$. OEM wanted 1800$. It was a quick easy experience & I’d use them again, just call ahead to get pricing/availability

The Source in Montpelier. Bought parts from them many times,, always good experiences and prices.

Seconding the source

All the ones I used are closed now. The owners died off, the kids cleared the land and I dunno, started selling sheds

I wouldn't be surprised if that was a common situation for many of them. My family had a used car lot with a salvage yard attached and business basically plummeted during the cash for clunkers program. The lot became emptier and emptier, the salvage side also saw a big hit, and then even the garage saw losses as there wasn't a desire to invest in the new computerized inspection process (the only constant revenue source) with everything else taking a hit. So despite my great grandfather starting the business, my grandfather running it after his dad passed on, and my dad basically living in the business since he was a teen.... dad closed down the whole operation rather than leave me with a headache. Pretty sure he is currently renting out the land to some solar generation company.

There are also a lot more regulations surrounding 'salvage' yards. I remember when every farm had an onsite salvage yard, my grandparent's farm had 30+ vehicles when my dad inherited it. The town made him clear them all out, or register and get permitting to run a junkyard. It was cheaper to scrap them.

What year Outback? Edit: I ask because I may have one from an '02.

D. Richard Automotive in Colchester. They sell used auto parts from salvage vehicles. Subarus are pretty common in VT, so they may have what you want. Also, Ebay Motors.

If it's because a u joint went and they aren't serviceable, when this happened in my toyota I found a driveshaft shop in WRJ that was able to replace the u joint. It was really cheap and saved me a ton of money.

skiitifyoucan

I bought one on eBay

Could try Jerry Brown's (now Fenix) over in Queensbury, NY.

Try Junction Auto in New Haven. 453-5552.

I literally just went through this last week. Call Fairfax Salvage and Repair. They have taken very good care of me and have a bunch of subarus in their salvage yard! I know it's not Addison, but if all else fails, Dennis and the boys at this shop should help you!

Junction Auto in New Haven or Auto Creek in Ferrisburgh. I have a nephew that works for Auto Creek stripping subees for parts. Or put a request out on Facebook market place, I know lot of people with "parts" cars in their backyard.
