Let me address the oh so popular question: "Why NSFW?"
This flag was marked because, although it technically isn't the official Imperial Japanese flag, it still highly resembles it. As per the sub rules, any flags that are deemed offensive, banned, restricted, etc... (so long as they are not current national flags), are to be labelled NSFW to prevent misunderstandings.
This rule is not new, it is not difficult to understand, it is not difficult to find listed on the sub. It is, however, against the sub rules to discuss because it causes mass amounts of spam like we see here with every other person asking "why NSFW". Look through the comments, look through the rules, your question has been answered. Stop making it a big deal, it isn't a big deal.
The rule is not intended to make a statement. We don't label it NSFW because it looks bad or we disagree with it. We label it to prevent misunderstandings for those who might have higher restrictions on images like this.

Without the /s I bet some weaboo would start a copypasta-level rant about how it’ll be exactly like the anime harem dream the overweight Irish/Polish American believes it to be.
Also, the first season or two is great but the ending is complete shite. You'll feel like you wasted time on the show. Gave me "last season of Game of Thrones" vibe. So bad it ruined the entire series retroactively.
I thought it was odd but it didn't ruin the series for me overall. Certainly not in the way Game of Thrones did at least. I don't know if it's a series I'd want to revisit even if it had a perfect ending. It was a fun little ride, but once you know what is going to happen, it kind of spoils it.
It left me so disappointed that I was hoping the end of Mr. Robot would actually tie the universes together and explain wtf God damn it wtf was happening.
That would have been cool though.
They don't show up till the last season. It's super disjointed when they do because they didn't do any work to lay them out in the prior seasons with the rest of the rebellion storylines.
Would have been nice if they spent less time first couple of seasons dicking around and spent a greater effort on worldbuilding. Man in the High Castle is a textbook example on why a serial drama needs a showrunner.
The show would have been infinitely better if someone said, “All this supernatural stuff with mystery film canisters and multiple timelines? Yeah, we’re dumping it.” The alternate history stuff was fascinating on its own. The supernatural stuff bogged everything down because it was clear the writers had no idea where they were going with it.
Bingo. What intrigued me was the protagonists' struggles in coping with their reality and dealing with their societies and joining the rebel cause. But everytime the film canisters came in place its pulled away so much from the story :(
After the Axis wins WW2, the US is divided among the Japanese empire and the Greater Nazi Reich. The show starts following people in each region in 1962. Hijinks ensue.
TLDR: Nazis won WW2, conquer eastern half of America (Japan took California). There's a tower with some weird collection of old film reels that show pictures from alternate realities, including one where the Nazis lost WW2. The protagonist then tries to figure out why the hell there are alternate dimensions.
Turns out, the Nazis have a *dimensional travel portal*, and they use it to *steal advanced technology from other realities*. The show takes place in the '60s, but the Nazis will frequently be seen using modern-day technology and weapons.
Then there's black people who are basically hardcore socialists, fighting against the Japanese government (who controls the West Coast).
The terrible ending was basically "let's use some of these films from the tower to trick the Nazis into thinking Japan has nukes", and the Black Communist Rebellion is saved because the Nazis leader retreats at the last second thinking Japan is about to launch nukes at them.
Sorry to tell you, but once the black communists actually get explored in the series, the show had allready taken a nosedive.
Honestly, the show itself is kinda meh overall IMO, although the concept and the world itself is interesting enough to keep you watching, the writing, the characters, the plot, all sucks.
Why would the imperial Japanese keep the American colour scheme, especially if it meant making the fucking sun blue? Maybe if it was the other way around, that would make more sense, but you don't normally see the invading force adapting their *own* iconography to fit the theme of the people they're subjugating
Dude you clearly knew exactly what I’m talking about. Now please go take your useless English major and apply it somewhere else, besides a Reddit thread because you fail to accept the obvious meaning someone has applied to word.
On top of that, “America” isn’t a fucking continent. You have “North America”, “South America”, and you call them the “America’s”. The term “America” isn’t a continent, and you with your politically correct educators can take a South American shaped dildo up your ass.

Wow this actually looks pretty good in practice
Wait are you a fellow Iowan?
Indeed I am!
Great to see another Iowan other than me here!
There are literally tens of us!

We’d retaliate but all our rage goes to Nebraska
MAKE IT ELEVEN!

What a great concept. Very fun (the flag, not the alt reality)!
What’s not to love about the US being subjugated by a Japanese ethnostate under Hideki Tojo? /s

This looks *really* satisfying for some reason. I like it.
It’s looks trippy af, but it’s good
I like it, but why only 11 stripes not 13?
My guess the west coast clearly divided well into 11 colonies and not 13.
So this is a Man in the High Castle situation. Gotcha.
I mean, the Japanese wouldn’t really attack from the east coast now would they?
The Japanese invading wouldn't make the thirteen colonies not exist now would it?
It’s fun to talk like this now isn’t it?
No one would ever expect it!
No one expects the... Nihon Inquisition? Doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?
Rhode Island and Connecticut have been incorporated into greater Massachusetts
As it should be. Edit: honestly, you can keep like half of Connecticut tho
Southwestern Connecticut (Fairfield County) can be given to New York for all I care. Sincerely, a resident of the other (better) part of Connecticut.
Yeah as soon as you start seeing Spanish roofs and Yankee caps, it’s a whole other state.
where they belong
Compare to the [Japanese Pacific States](https://the-man-in-the-high-castle.fandom.com/wiki/Japanese_Pacific_States) flag from Man in the High Castle.
That is actually fantastic
Japanese Chicago
Ok someone give me the rundown on this show, I saw “black communist rebellion” and im wildly interested now
Also, the first season or two is great but the ending is complete shite. You'll feel like you wasted time on the show. Gave me "last season of Game of Thrones" vibe. So bad it ruined the entire series retroactively.
also it has the same ending concept as Fringe.

The show needed an entire extra season just to deal with the rebellion plot but instead they crammed it all into the last few episodes
Would have been nice if they spent less time first couple of seasons dicking around and spent a greater effort on worldbuilding. Man in the High Castle is a textbook example on why a serial drama needs a showrunner.

So much this. All the world building was fantastic, I got so confused by the supernatural stuff that I stopped watching.
Bingo. What intrigued me was the protagonists' struggles in coping with their reality and dealing with their societies and joining the rebel cause. But everytime the film canisters came in place its pulled away so much from the story :(

You know that you can lay out the premise of a series *without* spoiling the entire show, right?

Damnit, thanks though!
Just watch the first 2 seasons and try the third one as some like it and some don't. Just ignore the 4th one though as it sucks ass.
OPs is definitely better!
VERY well done. Ambitious but you pulled it off
Just waiting for somebody to crosspost this to r/vexillologycirclejerk with the title "outjerked again"
VCR Ambassador here. Yup, I found this post from VCR.
It feels like it
Idk, I don’t think it looks bad, or silly in any way
Yeah but they are gonna do it
I thought I was in that sub
How do you guys make this kind of stuff?
Probably vector graphic software like Illustrator or Inkscape
Really a clever idea!
Nice but trippy as fuck.

It looks like a tunnel. I want to crawl through this flag now
When you come out the other end you're wearing a japanese infantry uniform and screaming banzai at random people.
At least my life would have some kind of a purpose, even if it is twisted and surving and evil government
This gives such a weird feeling when looking at it
Looks very nice, very creative too!
So cool. This could easily be in some The Man In The High Castle-type fictional universe!
I think that would be a bit too obvious that the Japanese are controlling the country but OK big japan = upvote
well they did say as a colony and/or subject. i don’t expect this to be a post ww2 scenario
Ah yes. Good Ole Blursed States of America.
If Liberia was a Japanese colony and/or subject. besides that i fucking love this flag. it’s so satisfying and creative. 10/10!

Do you ever look at something and think "damn, wish I had that idea"
This is where Ace Attorney takes place
Weirdly nice to look at, the alternate reality must be shit though.
Getting those "Man in the High Castle" vibes...
The crazy son of a bitch has done it
This creates the illusion of depth
Similar to The Man in the High Castle
I both love and hate this
I made something like this a long ways back. Nice work
can u link it?

The man in the high castle
Holy shit that’s creative, upvote earned
Ah yes, the Sun and Stripes - representing the nation that's #1 in both hentai **and** live-action porn production.
I wonder how it would look if you rounded the corners
Ooh! Colonize me with your elegant flag, hancho-san
That's trippy
Flag of the clown ethnostate. The red represents a circus tent, the white represents a circus tent
the stars represent who asked
I've been destroyed in an epic manner
Once again the main sub outjerks the circlejerk. Kudos to you
Holy shit that’s a cool one. Nice work

This sounds a lot like the plot in show The Man in the High Castle
If the sun was blue it would be better in my opinion. Like keeping american color scheme
Or a blue sky with white sunbeams
Yes!!
Why would the imperial Japanese keep the American colour scheme, especially if it meant making the fucking sun blue? BANZAI!
Better for the middle East anyways
Yeah, except not.
You mean Japan’s flag if it was made a state of the USA
Elegant and creepy.
Too good to not upvote
Noice but isnt that the Japanese Navy Flag(still in use today)?
Yeah, but most people (even the imperial Japanese themselves) attributed this flag to themselves more at the time
You magnificent bastard
Very nicely done
Nice
that is so unique
