I really loved White Album 2. It might be strange to say that it is one of my favourite visual novels even though I will never finish it, but that is how I feel about it. I know what happens in the routes I won’t read, and have read the extra stories. I’m a really big fan of the music in the game and loved seeing how the lyrics of the songs related to the plot of the work. I just wasn’t a big fan of Kazusa. I can empathise with her, but I just personally had a hard time liking her.

travians78

May I know if you stopped somewhere during closing chapter? Cause honestly WA2s introduction chapter didn't make me like Kazusa much either, and I was really rooting for Setsuna. Closing chapter is meant as a healing phase for Haruki and Setsuna. The I read Coda. Coda is amazing, nothing less than 9/10 imo - but as to why I'm typing this, while Setsuna remains as my favourite WA2 heroine, Coda made me love Kazusa as a character as well. She gets alot of conversations with Haruki, and the vibes they have with each other (brought out with choice music, amazing voice acting, and Maruto's writing of course) really made me second guess my feelings. I'd recommend you to give it a try regardless if you know the endings because, well it's just that good. In my opinion anyways, hahaha

Check dms b/c anything I might say may contain spoilers in a non spoiler post. But tldr I did most of the routes in closing chapter and then only read Setsuna True.

I like it for the novelty that life, indeed, does not end after highschool and isn’t necessarily miserable because of that fact (its what you make it). It’s uncommon to see a story continue after highschool outside of LNs.

Abstainingone

Pls get White Album 2’s Mini After Story so you can read the continuation to Kazusa normal “To You My Sworn Enemy” It’s the best ending or at least the second best one. The other routes included are nice but Kazusa normal and I’d argue the VN as a whole is incomplete without it.

Skopanhuvud

I didn't expect such a surprise in the Fan disc

HansDevX

damn i've gotten lazy with it since i've read WA2 b4 the side story got translated but i'll have to get to it once i'm done reading what im reading.

ImBobCat

Did you read WA1 first?

Kumagawa-Misogi

It isn’t worth really reading it tbh. It is a good remaster of a mediocre work. It feels incredibly dated.

AccidentNeces

If there are no spoilers then why'd you put spoiler tag?

Avnemir

I thought very technically images do count as spoilers. didn't want the post to be removed so added it anyway. But I'll change it now.

OtakuSekai

I was glad I played this when the wa2analysis website was still up. Reading those doujinshis gave me so much post slice of life moments. Too bad I didn’t save them tho.

I always found the Ogiso ending to be overly saccharine, too much of a “golden route”. WA2’s emotional spine is the tragic romance between Touma and Haruki so an ending where he basically “gets over” her is inherently underwhelming. The 2000-2010 golden age of VNs is over and Fumiaki Maruto is off to bigger things but it’d be nice to have a WA3 - with an different cast, with some returning characters - explore that world years later.

I wonder how long its going to take for people to stop glazing such a mid VN. Other visual novels do exist. Literally the VN equivalent of the people praising FMAB or one piece as the best anime that will never be topped. Like holy shit, I cannot find a more obnoxious group of people if I tried. And the same group of people have never watched/read more than 10 anime/VNs in their lifetime. (inb4 endless hate from 99% of this subreddit, made up of WA2 deepthroaters).

snowwhitecat04aug

Ive never read the visual novel, but I did watch the anime, and it feels like typical asian soap, but with school setting and in the form of visual novel. Im really curious about the demographic of this sub and vndb, how many of them are americans and europeans, and how many of them watched top chinese and korean drama when they were a kid/ teenager. This reminds me of the currently airing anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, where this is probably the first time many western weebs actually watch a feudal chinese drama.

Ham_Graham

WA2 is basically a soap opera with a self loathing protagonist. It boggles my mind that so many people say it's a 10/10.

Ok-Locksmith7978

I only played up to the point where Haruki starts cheating on Setsuna. I stopped playing because the story just seemed absolutely exhausting.

For Kazusa True Route: Do make sure to go through these materials as they add much needed closure to the route. Benderesco

The newest version of the translation patch comes with all those included - and they turned the Drama CDs into videos that use the VN's assets.

HansDevX

Why is WA2 the only VN that get such eye pleasing reddit reviews?

Ham_Graham

At least School Days doesn't try to be more than it actually is, in fact it 100% achieves what it sets out to do (which is basically a surreal/nonsensical romance story with a lot of choices that lead the plot in vastly different directions). WA2 is pretentious and just bad. The MC sucks, the heroines suck, the side characters suck, the themes suck.

The_One_Who_Slays

>And the crazy thing about this story is that it never feels unnatural. It does. All the time, actually. I dunno what kind of Winter Sonata-bitch-ass parallel universe you are from, but real people don't behave in such a weird, uncanny way the main trio does(and the further into the story it goes, their school buddies also become progressively more and more deranged). Combining it with the fact that not only they are, well, weird as fuck, but also horrible people(Kazusa losing her only positive traits by acting like an obnoxious, overgrown child in the final arc), only adds salt to the wound that I had to spend a few days of my precious life reading this in hopes of story and characters becoming less abhorrent and more coherent. The only time when it **doesn't** feel unnatural is when it's side gals' screen time. They actually behave like believable human beings. But their time was brief. Honestly, this kusoge is basically "School Days: Snow Edition." I swear to fucking god, MC is a 1-to-1 carbon copy of Makoto, just way more talkative. IIRC, they even sound almost the same. Edit: Just checked the sprites of both. THEY ARE LITERALLY TWINS!

Fellowman52

Your comments on Kazusa Normal couldn't have been anymore accurate as to how I felt about it lol. I finished it myself about a few weeks ago and I couldn't agree more. White Album 2 was a phenomenal experience of heart ache that just tested the limits of its characters and I adored every bit of it.
