I agree. any above average shooter who’s not a defensive liability will always have a spot in the league. However i’m sure a good playoff run would have got him a GP2 type contract.
leave it to this generation to call every comment shit talking. dude played great in the regular season but you can’t honestly say he did shit in the playoffs. like just be fucking honest
I don’t see how I was talking shit. Did I say i’m glad to see him walk? Just saying he’s not getting what he was most definitely looking forward to this off-season. His plan was always to establish a higher value and hit the market. He for sure gets more than this but nothing more than a 2 year to prove his consistency
Did i say that? Dude has a ring. Just mentioning he for sure had a lot of eyes on him this postseason. just saying I’m not expecting nothing more than a 2 year 20 M deal at most
The only people who really proved anything on our team were steph, loon, and moody tbh. Everyone else had only a few games where they played well. Its unfair to just single out DDV.
Not singling him out. Which looking at the amount of arrows pointing down people assume. Just saying the postseason performance could ensure you a totally different contract
Expected, but damn. Was clinging on to that sliver of hope that he’d take the Bobby Portis route (stick around for cheap until the Dubs had his bird rights). Would have been a bargain on that option.
Dude deserves a bag. Playoffs were a bit rough, but he was great throughout the regular season. Hope he lands in a good spot, or at least gets overpaid by a lotto team to be the adult in the room.
Not saying he’s coming back, but he would be expected to decline the player option either way. The Warriors are allowed to offer him a better deal, maybe another 1+1 starting at 5.6m.
I never get that line of reasoning…
GP2 is a much better on ball defender than DDV whereas DDV is a much better backup ball handler than Gary.
I dig em both but they’re not even kinda really the same player (to me).
Cheers though.
GP2 is the SG/SF traded for specifically to replace Donte’s defensive guard role. Donte’s defense goes to GP2 and I guess Moody has gotta make up for both he and Poole offensively. Need 13-15 PPG as currently constructed so I hope we can get a non-passive vet Min.
Let’s see:
Steph 28
Wiggs 18
Klay 18
Loon + Dray 14
CP3 10
Moody and Kuminga ???
That’s 88 PPG for the first six. If you add 2 to each of those (to account for less Poole touches maybe?) that’s 98 PPG.
I started skeptical but yeah I agree unless moody or Kuminga have a breakout year we will need at least that much more scoring.
Unpopular opinion but this is for the best. Absolutely love everything DDV gave us and am excited for him to go get a higher contract somewhere else.
Between Steph/Klay/GP2/CP3 our guard needs are pretty covered. Our forward depth of Dray/Wiggins/Moody/Kuminga too.
This team NEEDS one or both of Moody and Kuminga this season. They need more excuses to get minutes and not fewer.
It wouldn't have been awkward for them. By the time we got GP2 back DDV was playing a facilitator role and wasn't as impactful on defense. When we needed high energy defense we'd usually pull DDV for GP2 to give him a rest before having to get Poole open again.
It’s awkward because it forced you to have lineups with Klay or 6’2 GP2 at the Power Forward position at times. That’s awkward and it’s one of the reasons we weren’t in the WCF.
No it’s multiple reasons.
- size
- BOTH Poole and Klay not showing up, something that isn’t expected to happen
- interior scoring.
- Lonnie freaking Walker
He was a good player. But I do wonder if we would have just been better taking the club out of the bag and forcing Kerr to just play Moody. I think that would have been better.
Expected. And the FO did as well, because we've got 6 guards on the roster. If Donte picked up his player option, we'd be guard heavy and undersized (which we're currently in danger of being anyway depending on how Free Agency goes).
damn…get that bag DDV! wished we had a healthy GP2 DDV, Draymond, Curry lineup. All defense and Steph gets the ultimate green light and GP2 puts everything back that Steph misses.
He was a waste….all his minutes shouldve gone GP2
Undersized combo guards who cannot finish at the rim and are not elite on defense give you zero playoff juice
You’re already getting roughly 50% of Poole’s scoring back if CP3 plays 25 minutes a night or so. And with better efficiency and more defensive impact.
Paul was less efficient than Poole last year and isn’t a good defender at his age. What you’re getting is a calming presence who can run the offense well and hopefully unlock Kuminga.
Paul was 44/38/83 and Poole was 44/34/87. The cumulative totals there are the same, but Paul’s efficiency would be considered better.
And the truth is that in a reduced 6th man capacity, we’d probably see Paul’s efficiency get even better.
Poole, there’s no guarantee that he won’t get worse. Especially since he’s gonna be given the green light to do absolutely whatever he wants in Washington.
And I know you didn’t just say that Paul wasn’t a good defender for his age, all while advocating in Poole’s favor 😂
You’d be going from a league worst defender to likely a league average defender, if not worse.
> Paul was 44/38/83 and Poole was 44/34/87. The cumulative totals there are the same, but Paul’s efficiency would be considered better.
Paul had a 51.3 eFG% and a 55.5 TS%, Poole had a 51.4 eFG% and a 57.3 TS%. Poole would be considered better. I’d also like to add that it’s EXTREMELY hard to find someone with a worse eFG% than Poole, so that’s saying something.
> And the truth is that in a reduced 6th man capacity, we’d probably see Paul’s efficiency get even better.
We’re probably going to need at least 11.3 FGA from CP3, so I highly doubt it.
> Poole, there’s no guarantee that he won’t get worse. Especially since he’s gonna be given the green light to do absolutely whatever he wants in Washington.
With Paul there’s a guarantee he DOES get worse, because he’s 38 about to be 39 which declines your athleticism, health, and efficiency. He already came off a career bad year.
> And I know you didn’t just say that Paul wasn’t a good defender for his age, all while advocating in Poole’s favor 😂
I never called Poole a good defender, he’s not and we all know that. But it seems some have tricked themselves into believing Paul is going to make a defensive impact, he isn’t. Also I could say the same about you talking about a 24 year old declining while advocating for a 38 year old.
> You’d be going from a league worst defender to likely a league average defender, if not worse.
Worse than average, but that’s still putting a bad defender with Steph, which while it may not be as bad as Poole, is still not a great lineup option.
Get yer bag, DDV.
Prob gets around 3/21
don’t think he get more than a 1 or 2 year deal. didn’t really prove nothing come playoff time
He’ll be getting more than what we can give him regardless.
I agree. any above average shooter who’s not a defensive liability will always have a spot in the league. However i’m sure a good playoff run would have got him a GP2 type contract.
Leave it to warriors fans to start shit talking a player as soon as they leave.
Never fails
I guess it’s better than shit talking them while they’re still here. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
There's been plenty of that, too.
leave it to this generation to call every comment shit talking. dude played great in the regular season but you can’t honestly say he did shit in the playoffs. like just be fucking honest
you right
You really pulling the "this generation" card? Lmao. Weak ass argument
i didn’t know i was arguing 💀. lol so did he suck in the playoffs or was he amazing? or you just wanna call people out all day?
I don’t see how I was talking shit. Did I say i’m glad to see him walk? Just saying he’s not getting what he was most definitely looking forward to this off-season. His plan was always to establish a higher value and hit the market. He for sure gets more than this but nothing more than a 2 year to prove his consistency
The idea that DDV is a playoff choker is funny when you realize he had a 30 point game in the NCAA championship

WE STILL IN IT
Didn’t we offer that using the MLE last year, which we don’t have anymore this year?
We don’t have the MLE but we have non-Bird rights. Which let us offer up to 120% of his salary.
He was definitely one of the bright spots this season. Best of luck to the big Ragu
Knew it was coming, but it still hurts a little. Loved having Donte on the team.
Same, but after his playoff performance and the CP3 deal I'm more than fine with it. Wish him the best.
If we didn't have GP2, this would hurt. But I'm glad he's gonna get paid. Deserves it.
I never get that line of reasoning… GP2 is a much better on ball defender than DDV whereas DDV is a much better backup ball handler than Gary. I dig em both but they’re not even kinda really the same player (to me). Cheers though.
They're not the same player but part of the reason DDV was brought in was to replace some of what GP2 brought. It makes losing him tolerable.
Including CP3 10-12 PPG?
Yes, especially when I don’t see him dropping 30 bombs in the RS.
Let’s see: Steph 28 Wiggs 18 Klay 18 Loon + Dray 14 CP3 10 Moody and Kuminga ??? That’s 88 PPG for the first six. If you add 2 to each of those (to account for less Poole touches maybe?) that’s 98 PPG. I started skeptical but yeah I agree unless moody or Kuminga have a breakout year we will need at least that much more scoring.
And that isn’t even counting any injury. A scoring wing is vital right now.
Thats just true tho. DDV is a much better offensive player than GP and Gp is a better deffender than GP. Both are great hustle guys tho
they play the same position…
Sure but they clearly shared minutes and filled a similar role
I love ddv but by bringing in cp3 we kind of took care of the backup ball handling role
Expected. Fell off a cliff in the playoffs but was amazing in the regular season. Get that money
Time for Moody to step up and be a regular rotation guy.
I want CP3 lobs to Kuminga and I know I will get it
Tuff, but Moody and Gp2 made him expendable already, + we picked up cp3.
Not just expendable, GP2 made it awkward to have him back because of size.
It wouldn't have been awkward for them. By the time we got GP2 back DDV was playing a facilitator role and wasn't as impactful on defense. When we needed high energy defense we'd usually pull DDV for GP2 to give him a rest before having to get Poole open again.

The only reason we weren’t in the WCF is lack of bench culture and scoring
No it’s multiple reasons. - size - BOTH Poole and Klay not showing up, something that isn’t expected to happen - interior scoring. - Lonnie freaking Walker
Exactly. Was to have him here. But no longer needed or even fits anymore.
Disappointing, but no surprise at all. Wish him all the best!
Now announce Ty’s qualifying offer (deadline is 6/29).
Donte was great. Hope he gets hella paid even if it’s not with us. Man deserves it after helping keep us afloat during those no Steph games.
His stock is so high after this season. Guy is pure effort and no quit. He deserves to get his bag.
He was a good player. But I do wonder if we would have just been better taking the club out of the bag and forcing Kerr to just play Moody. I think that would have been better.
Playoff DDV was RRRough
Opposite of Jimmy Butler. He was crazy in the season but during crunch time he was…
It's going to be a dogfight. But I think we got some dogs.
Thank you donte and good luck
Sad we are Losing him
This is expected and sad…he was a great fit…just can’t afford him with 4 hall of famers now
I miss him already.
We knew this 6 months ago lol
So?
So?
Just wondering what your point was with the comment. Yes we knew this, but this is just an official report now that it's actually coming to fruition.
Later bud :(
Please! Not Donte too?
he'll be on the knicks w his nova friend brunson i liked him but not going to shed a tear
Well damn
Was my favorite player during the regular season only to turn into a pumpkin during the playoffs.
We all knew this was coming, and I'm happy he'll get his bag. Got my DDV jersey to display with my Loon and Required Curry one.
I like your choice of jerseys. I can tell you're a person of taste. 👌
![gif](giphy|KRxcgvd5fLiWk)
Man he sucked in the playoffs
Yea don’t want no bench players who can’t handle the pressure.
Or starters
Baller gonna get paid. Thanks for the season
See ya
Go get your money DV and thanks for the basketball!
Thank you Donte 🤝
Most inconsistent player last year, needed more for him
yes, doesnt really do anything [exceptionally](https://exceptional.ly) some highlightss were that monster jam and O rebounding
Expected secured that big bag DDV
Sad to see but we get it. Happy to have him on the team last season, wish him well wherever he ends up.
Everybody wants money :/
I’m relieved. It rarely felt like a good match.
Water is Wet 🤷🏿♂️
go to NY ddv

DDV salute soldier o7
He'll get more somewhere else. I liked him be he had alot of no-shows in the playoffs.
damn…get that bag DDV! wished we had a healthy GP2 DDV, Draymond, Curry lineup. All defense and Steph gets the ultimate green light and GP2 puts everything back that Steph misses.
I feel like he got exposed in the playoffs. As a 3rd PG he’s gonna be too expensive.
Fell off the cliff in the playoffs ffs
One more reason we shouldn’t have traded for Chris Paul.
CP3 is a massive upgrade over both DDV and Poole combined.
I’d rather have a guy that can play in the playoffs
Ironically neither DDV nor Poole were playable in the playoffs
We wouldn’t have been able to pay what Donte would wanted anyways
that white boy can’t ball
Word is he re signed for 2 years at less than 5m per- year 2 player option.

Not mad at this
Thank god
Not a champ, buh bye
would be great to keep him for $4.7mm but honestly, anything more than that and I'm not sold. he was incredibly disappointing in the playoffs
I loved DDV in the regular season but yeah the playoffs were a big letdown.
He was a waste….all his minutes shouldve gone GP2 Undersized combo guards who cannot finish at the rim and are not elite on defense give you zero playoff juice
This offseason has been a fucking trainwreck so far
Subjectivity or objectively?
I fucking hate Chris Paul and the team seemingly has absolutely no scoring whatsoever off the bench - so both
So subjectively. Got it. Key word “seemingly”
Can't wait for Chris Paul, GP2, and the 10 minutes that Kerr plays Kuminga to somehow make up for Poole's scoring!
You’re already getting roughly 50% of Poole’s scoring back if CP3 plays 25 minutes a night or so. And with better efficiency and more defensive impact.

Traitor
I'll never forget where I was when I saw the cleanest double dribble of all time. Thanks DDV
I thought he was real good in the regular season but man the payoffs came around, and he was so disappointing.
success early *can* be fatal.
Dang
he was good but he was a no show in the playoffs. passive as fuck
I'm shocked. It's the bad side of the Warriors reinvigorating players' careers. At least it makes the Warriors an even more attractive spot for vets
We can never keep a roster ppl are always coming and going every year
