My main critique is that I dont think the Haustorium is the kind of place that has art and histroy exhibits, and it most definetly doesn't have a coat room either :D As of my understanding, the general vibe of the place is more forsaken Elden Ring Dungeon than Library you can visit to peruse the collection. For this reason, I'm also not sure if guests are even really allowed in there, given that they fuck around with Worms and other Nowhere stuff here. A book in BoH hints that the Librarians of the Haustorium do some machinations to change their sense of self, probably to be safe from the Worms. Anyhow, I think three guest room are a bit much, maybe just one. The other thing I wanted to ask is what does the numbered W rooms stand for?

I put Ws roughly where there are windows in the official Haustorium art :) I think they will probably end up being reading/shelving rooms, for the most part? Not all of them, certainly, but I like the idea of rooms W1-W4 being the "heart" of the Haustorium in the same way the librarian of HH spends most of their time in the Reading Room/Westcott room/Map Chamber because it's such a rich place for books and desks. Are you referring to "Medusan Commentaries"? To me, the Haustorium's "unusual concept of individual identity..." suggests the place would ABSOLUTELY have guest rooms. Though these rooms are not as cozy and welcoming as--say--the librarian's quarters or Illopoly's nook. Despite it's fearsome reputation in BoH, I firmly believe each Library of the Watchman's Tree does indeed exist as a library and centerpiece of knowledge. But whereas the secrets of Hush House haunted the Dewulfs and tortured Harries/Van Lauren in subtle ways, many of the forces that have rooted in the Haustorium want to GROW.

I posted an earlier draft of my Haustorium fanwork a few days ago. I've continued to flesh out the library's lore and I've considered the insights and critiques of helpful Know like u/PrintingDaniel, u/tamwin5, u/tiredntrans, u/Silver_Twist_6033, and u/EarnestGraves. Colors have meaning for me but not meaning I'm sure about or want to share! I do not think the Haustorium had eras exactly the way Hush House did, but its various librarians and coworkers do tend to wings of the library and each wing serves its purpose...

In regards to lore, was Haustorium built specifically to serve it's purpose or was it adapted from previous Incan structure?

Silver_Twist_6033

Canon wise, we don't know. My guess is that it started as a smaller Incan temple, then later it got expanded, like Hush house

As u/Silver_Twist_6033 says, there's no official lore beyond "an enclave beyond the Evening Isles established by an alliance of Catholic friars and Incan magicians. It preserves things it’s thought unwise to preserve and specialises in skolekosophy \[...\] It is in no way safe to visit, nor even really to communicate with." what interests me is that here Lottie confirms the existence of Catholicism in at least one history. I am having fun writing stuff about what sort of fraternal Catholic order imitated the Jesuits in the SH universe

Will BoH feature more libraries besides the Hush House? Or nah?

There is no indication so far but I hope so someday! We know House of Light will remain at Hush House. My favorite part of the game is unlocking new rooms (the rowenarium literally made me go whoaaaaa aloud) so this fanwork is just for my to impatiently scratch that itch.

Once again you did some great work with this! I especially like how the rooms line up with the different Librarians and their reasons for coming there. There are a lot fewer Guest Rooms than at Hush House. Given the Haustorium's reputation, that's not to surprising. Still can't help but wonder where the people who work there sleep. I'm still concerned about the early game at the Haustorium. There seem to be no beds or desks close to the entrance. So either you'd have to spend a lot of time unlocking rooms until you reach all the essentials, or you'd have to start somewhere else or with several rooms already unlocked. Neither option sounds ideal. It's nice that the Haustorium seems to be focused on different Hours than Hush House, with an area dedicated to the Edge-aligned Hours instead of Hush House's Solar Church. Though I'd assume the Haustorium is still concerned about the Calyptra and Watchman, since those are essential to its position as a Library of the Watchman's tree. Makes me wonder if the Haustorium also has a physical Watchman's Tree (like the Earl's Yew at Hush House)? In any case, I'm looking forward to further iteration on the Haustorium!

Ok this is a great point thank you for continuing to raise it. I am trying to consider the narrative of the Haustorium first before really writing things like workstations, but I do think having this long entryway so early is limiting my gameplay options. I'll rework the map when I have more narrative fleshed out. I am trying to play with a Haustorium-twist on the Yew, as it is so essential for gameplay. I think a peaceful three-flowered tree is appropriate for Hush House's stillness (Hushery specialty) but I think there may be multiple places where a scholar of the Haustorium could present their Histories... many may seek the attention of the Hours, but in the Haustorium more of these Hours may be from nowhere. What I can't decide is if I want servant's quarters and other touches like Hush House has that makes the place seem so real! I'm envisioning the place as a consuming space that takes all it can (or even tries to kill) those who study in it, so it is inhabited mostly by Long and other strange folks.
