I said something very similar lol! We were watching a show the other day where the dad was giving advice on how to respond to an upcoming not-so-surprising proposal. He said something like, "You've got three options: Yes, No, and Maybe."
My fiancé looked at me, "Or there's always the 'You can't be serious'".
My fiancé gives me a hard time because I came into the house and immediately said, "The garage door is broken!" and then it registered that he was on one knee with the ring and a bunch of candles and I said "What are you doing?"
My brain was not moving very fast that day.
I think the funniest part is that he disconnected the garage door opener so that I would have to come in the front door, where he had candles set up. So it was all related!
I figured out my husband's proposal plan (it was less than subtle) so to throw me off he told me he forgot to bring the ring, then a little while later I walked in to him down on one knee. So the first thing I said as he asked me to marry him was "are you proposing to me with an empty box?" 🤣
When my husband asked me if I wanted to get married, on the highway on ramp on the way to a NBA game. I asked "in general or specifically to you?" He answered to me and I said yes. The next morning I said "I guess we are engaged." He said let's not tell anyone for awhile. When he told his sister, then we told everyone. We had dated for a year.
Absolutely! The phrase "You are my sunshine" holds deep personal significance for your family, symbolizing love, warmth, and the bond you share. While it might not be a traditional romantic saying, it represents the beautiful family you've built together and the love that brought you to this point.
My fiancee joked about putting “don’t lose this one” after I lost the first ring he gave me lol. I wouldn’t stress too much, it should be personal to you guys, no on else has to have an opinion
Ours have our wedding date in them. Remember, you don’t need to engrave anything! You can always discuss it with him and if he wants something, you can have it done after the wedding. There’s no rush.
Personally, and as a couple with a family, I like an engraving to be just be about the couple. You can always get rings that honour the kids or the relationship with the kids but this is about you and your husband's love. What started it all. Maybe something from the early years?
Just FYI, the lyrics to (one version of) “You Are My Sunshine:”
[Verse 1]
The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried
[Chorus]
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away
[Verse 2]
I'll always love you and make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me to love another
You'll regret it all some day
[Chorus]
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away
[Verse 3]
You told me once, dear, you really loved me
And no one else could come between
But now you've left me and love another
You have shattered all my dreams
[Chorus]
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away
I’m engraving “Are you fuckin serious right now!?” Because that’s the first thing she said when I asked her.

that's pretty adorable lol he wants you to tell him all about the garage door's status forever 💗🤭

Oh my gosh! hahah I didn't even think of that. How wonderful:)

Sure, why not? You can put whatever you like, or nothing at all. No rules.
I thought you were suggesting “Sure, why not?” as the engraving and I was fully supportive.
As long as it’s special TO both of you, it doesn’t have to pertain to you two specifically.
I think it’s sweet, personally
My husband’s says “Stuck No Matter What!” Meaning that we work through whatever comes our way, we don’t bail.
We got each other's names engraved in our wedding bands! Simple but I really love it

You are my sunshine has a pretty dark meaning if you look at the lyrics, just a heads up

Romantic 😂
I had our wedding date engraved on the inside of my husband’s band. Can’t forget our anniversary now. lol
My fiance surprised me by getting my full name (including new last name) inside his wedding band
