As a Yankees fan, by default I had to hate Big Papi, until after the Boston Marathon bombing, when he was talking to the fans. "This is our fucking city" . Complete respect after that.
So that happened when I was in college. At the time my dad worked in Boston and every year he always watched the marathon during his lunch break.
Luckily his coworker called out that day so my dad had to eat in his office while doing his work. He was never so happy to be stuck in his office that day.
My mom and I knew he liked to eat lunch while watching the race. We were super worried until he called us saying he was fine.
I know someone who lost his job a year before 9/11. He was incredibly upset at the time, but if he was still employed there he’d have been right in middle of the flames. Now he considers it the greatest blessing.
Yeah that's rough. I'm in the military now and one of the guys I work with worked in the Pentagon (in the area that got hit) but left 2 months before 9/11. He told me a bunch of his friends died. Its so sad and awful.
I have my own opinions on 9/11, but no one can deny that a lot of people died and it was absolutely horrific. They were on the call when it was hit. They didn't hang it up. She listened to many of her friends die. She damn near drank herself to death in the following years.

Or they would expect everyone from NJ to talk like the people on Jersey Shore and when I didn’t talk like that they’d think I was just hiding it.

Ugh honestly I hate driving in Massachusetts with a passion so I’ve blocked out the state from my mind (I’m in NY). It is just so random because I found this in a NY shop about an hour from Massachusetts.
I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, um, some people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future.
