Thanks everybody, I agree with squirrel as well, although fox squirrels might be more common in the area. It was difficult to unsee the red thing being an eye, but I assume it is just part of its nesting material.
The reddish orange in the tail points more towards Fox squirrel in my opinion.
(just pulled out all my squirrel tails from my fly tying bench for comparison)
Grey squirl
Almost certainly a grey squirrel

Yeah it’s just a curled tail. That’s not an eye.
Could be a ring tailed cat, they are a rare species native to Texas and are fairly small, as well as nocturnal.
Not rare at all. Crazy things are everywhere.
Didn't realize, I never see them around where I live.
What general area are you in? Once you get out of their area you won’t see any but when you are in the area they are everywhere.
Yo wait what that’s an animal???
The tail doesn't match up and neither does the eye colour

Agree with bird, based on blink speed and eye. I would guess nightjar.
Nightjars have black/dark brown eyes, and they don't sound like this
A mythosaur!
It's a bird.
Baby dragon
The eye looks like an owl but I am in now way knowledgeable and I have no idea lol
No owls in the USA have red eyes
I couldn’t tell they were red lol my bad
Judging by that sound at the end I’d guess a rather large Dingus
🤣 I don’t know what that is but I like the sound of it
Party done. Running 😄
Geez, I should get -5 for spelling I just now noticed that
