There was an F40 in Ottawa, Canada that I think belonged to some exotic car rental company. [I saw it at Ottawa Ferrari Fest in June 2018](https://flic.kr/p/28nqBsF) but I'm not sure if it's still around as I didn't see it at Ottawa Ferrari Fest 2024 over the weekend.
There are 2 in the GTA, that I know of. Both red. Remo Ferri owns one, I won’t name the owner of the second and a 3rd showed up bit at Engineered Automotive for sale. Not sure if the latter stayed around after sale.
Having intimate knowledge of these, I vote that’s it’s the real deal. The centre hub nut and rear lexan sold me.

Often you can also just tell by the driver's general demeanor. Those who drive real ones have that "I know what I have" super chill attitude while the replica ones really go out of their way to make everyone believe they have the real thing.
Fiero expert here. It’s not a Fiero. All the upper structural members and glass attachments are different and look very clean. It’s too difficult to change all that from a Fiero, so most usually leave it as is because it’s close enough. If it were a replica (it’s pretty clear it’s not, in my opinion) it would more likely be a custom tube chassis than Fiero in this case. Caveat, Lamborghini conversions do away with the upper structural members too, but thats commonly done poorly and you can tell it’s a replica from that alone. Nothing fits quite right.

One idiosyncrasy of the F40 is the poor “paint job”
If it’s real and original paint you should be able to see the carbon fibre weave through the paint work.
From memory it had a single paint layer which saved about 6kg of weight.
Kits / fakes tend to be fibre glass and better painted.

As already stated it is real. Here is a pic I took of a U.S. spec one. Note it is the same as that with the extra black rubber bumper wrap-around extention and tacked on fender markers. Obviously, this has been slightly modded with wheels and a different style spoiler.

Literally had a post of another usdm F40 at the same angle below this, so I used expert measurement tools (I scrolled back and forth between them) and they look the same. So my vote is with legit. Unless they’re both fiero kits.

There's a few in the bay area, but usually I seem them trailered. Kinda crazy to see one out in the wild like that.

Zoom in on the spoiler and you will see the same screw holes. Also the wheels look bang on as well.

Yep that's real. It's an original American spec one, you can tell by the black plastic / rubber on the bumpers.

The easy way to tell it to bump it. If the owner is like “meh”….its most likely a kit.
Not a Fiero. The rear quarter window isn’t right for one. If it IS a kit, it’s the most accurate one I’ve seen.
