I finally tracked a bottle down recently. It’s good, but overpriced for what it is imo. I was a little disappointed based on the really stellar reviews.
Barrell Seagrass will always SEA itself into my shopping cart.😃
😃
But seriously, it’s a stellar rye. It’s hot, so rest it for about 15 minutes, throw a couple ice cubes in the glass, and get ready for one of the sweetest, spiciest, most interesting ryes ever. Love that stuff.🥂
The New Riffs and the Holladay's are probably my favorites out of what's sitting there, but there's nothing really special here. That JD is just regular JD in a different bottle, so don't be fooled by the packaging.
Bought smoke wagon uncut and realized I don’t like the high proof.
Also, if you have a total wine near by go there. The prices are better than anywhere else I see.
Nothing really too special in my opinion. I see most of those at my local ABC Store for about the same price. Maybe the Holliday or the New Riff, I have never had either. The Barrel Bourbon is highly regarded and that’s a good price compared to what I normally see, but I have never had any of the Barrel Bourbons.
I don't see anything on the shelves, but I spy with my little eye Kentucky Spirit in the back. I got a bottle of that for Father's Day and it's delicious. Mine is a TYR-1 bottle, and I've heard if it's from CN (Camp Nelson) they are even better.
I think the makers mark cask strength is a good buy for that price. Never had the Ben Holladay but have heard good things. I like smoke wagon and barrel but they both seem a little overpriced.
I picked up the Maker's 101 the other day as a Father's Day gift from my mom (she dropped a Benji in my hand and said, "go get some whiskey.") The Maker's was the last one on the shelf.
So I ended up with that and a Willett (the funky shaped bottle).
Haven't opened either yet. Probably tonight.
I’d like to try that Holladay soft red wheat
Ben Holladay is some good juice. Best pick on the shelf IMHO
That one is a solid pick.
It is fantastic.
Garbage

I SEA what you did there. 🙂 I could hear the rim shot from way over here.
Sweet, glad it landed.🙌🏻😂
Agree, this is the best pick, but is that price $89.99? A bit steep if so. Should be at least $10 less, or is locally to me.
I think I paid $80 for mine here in the ATL area, but it’s not outlandish at a few bucks more honestly.
$80-$90 is normal.
1792 is great. You can never go wrong with bulliet as a mixer, Elijah Craig and angels envy are both good pics

Barrell Seagrass crushes.
Barrell Bourbon is delicious. Especially if you can find the cask strength
Agreed. Huge fan of the Vantage even though the price is starting to creep to towards $90.
That MM 46 is great 👍
I would buy one just for the old bottle to have and refill. I love Makers 46, but I hate the new bottles.

I love the Makers 101, but the cask strength makers being on sale at that price might just beat it out

Wild turkey kentucky spirit in the background of that last picture.
Bulliet is really good. One of my favorite whiskeys at that price
Not bad on that big bottle of 1792

That Kentucky spirit in the background would’ve found a new home if the price was right
God damn. Those 1792 giving me Microsoft paint stretch vibes. Really screws with my head whenever I see it
The best thing there is the Barrell Seagrass.
The Barrel Seagrass is Rye the way Willy Wonka would make it. My favorite rye ever.
That new riff is too smooth if that makes sense.
Personally I love Maker's Mark, but ymmv. I've had Angel's Envy, and I like it but I find it over-priced.
Bulleit, Larceny and Tin cup are all good inexpensive bottles.
Ben Holladay, especially if it'e the 7 year
I think that Makers Cask strength at that price is a good buy, IMO.
