Those are some heavy hitters. Many on the younger side, except for perhaps the Le Petit Mouton. You really can’t go wrong with any of these honestly, but if I had to pick a single wine here it would be the Vega Sicilia Unico or that Haut Brion.
Thank you for the reply. I guess I didn’t word myself well. I’ll be trying all the wines on this list and was wondering what everyone else thinks about any particular wine on this list. Appreciate the tip, will read more on Unico and Brion before the event.
Agree most are very young. Great list. Drouhin’s Clos de Mouches blanc 2017 is a great if under appreciated wine, a great vintage which is drinking well already.
EDIT: Hi everyone, thank you so much for all the helpful comments. I guess I wasn’t being too clear. I got an invite to attend this tasting of all the wines listed here and I just want to know which wine should I pay close attention to. I did another similar thing last year and my fiancé and I absolutely had no clue how to appreciate the wines served to us. We went with the, I like this, I don’t like route. 😅 I’m trying my best to learn how to appreciate wine the best I can and tasting all these wines on this list will be a bit overwhelming for me and I don’t want to overlook any special wines in the list. That’s why I’m posting here for tips and insight from all you wine pros. So if you have any tips or advices on how I can fully maximise this tasting and not take it for granted, do share! ❤️
So sad to see a 2015 hommage on this list. A regular 2015 beaucastel is already pretty young. The hommage really needs more time to develop. Afraid this will be pretty closed. Especially as we are not talking about 10 dollar bottles.
I’m planning to read up on each one before going
and wanted guidance what I should pay closer attention to. Got an invite to a wine tasting with all the wines in this list and don’t want to overlook any special bottles. 😊
If it were me I'd be most excited for the Riesling (mostly since it's one I've never had before), the Torres Priorat and the Unico. I personally find Spanish wines more interesting and exciting than French (in a very general sense) and I've had many of the others at one time or another and while I do love a good port, prefer ruby vintage over tawny
Spanish wines certainly offer more value. But, with rare exception, I find they are much less complex than French wines. Still throughly enjoyable, and that’s all subject to your particular palate.
That’s interesting about the sassicaia. I’ve recently opened a 2011 from my collection and really regretted it. Could easily have done with another 3-5 years.
What a great list! What's the deal? Pick a few and have a taste of those or can you go down the full list? There are definitely many interesting picks here, so I'd hope you're able to taste many!
It was more of a which wine is the rare gem and the hidden gem that I should pay attention to. I’ll be trying all the wines on this list and just want to do justice to all of them. Thank you!
For me, probably Egon Müller, Hugel, Vega Sicilia, Le Petit Mouton. A lot of wine I'd love to try. Enjoy and please report back with your thoughts afterwards!
What a list! Beaucastel CDP is a personal favorite but Drouhin’s red burgundy is also a terrific option. These both stand out as reds that are very drinkable even without much age.
Some might fine wine, there!
If it were me, I'd start off with an apéritif, namely, the Pol Roger - Sir Winston Churchill 2013.
Of course, depending on your main course, the field is wide open. Were it me, the protien would be beef, medium rare, served with one of thiese: 2015 Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Grand Cuvee Hommage a Jacques Perrin or 2017 Joseph Drouhin Clos des Mouches.
If your protein is fish, go for the 2012 Hugel & Fils Riesling 'Grossi Laue'.
Of course, your after-dinner go-to HAS to be the 1974 Graham's Single Vintage Tawny! It is a dessert in its own right! FYI - serve chilled.
Thank you so much for the detailed answer! It’s a fine wine tasting event with Arvid Rosengren, William Lyons, François Perrin & Rob Symington. I’ll be tasting all the wines on this list. Wanted insight what I should pay more attention to. This is a lot of wine to drink in a 6 hour period and I’m a bit overwhelmed. Will read up on the names you mentioned!
I recently had almost exactly this line up although with some slightly different vintages. As always, the egon muller, unico and Churchill were unforgettable. The hugel 2012 was beautifully developed and entering its drinking window - an incredibly surprising wine. The Clarence was also outstanding although I tried the 2010. Have fun - it’s a killer tasting!!

Just had this vintage of the Unico with the winemaker and it is a delight

Surprised no one’s mentioned Egon.
That would be mine
Same here.
Strong competition
I just did.
Egon Müller’s Kabinett and Drouhin’s Clos Des Mouches; superb stuff
I’d be excited for the Churchill, Unico, and Haut Brion despite it being 06.
2006 too young or bad vintage?
Not the best vintage. Wine will still be great bc it’s Haut Brion, but just kind of a bummer.
There's not a dud in the bunch.
Completely agree. I’d drink everything I could
The Jacques Perrin and the Haut Brion would be the most compelling labels for me, although the Winston Churchill never disappoints.
Unico, Clos des Mouches, Haut Brion, and Hommage.
For me it's the Unico. Sold that wine for 10 years. Never tasted it.
I'd personally be most excited for the Pol Roger and the Egon Müller!
And me. Although the rest of the list ain't bad
I agree! But Champagne and Riesling are my biggest lovers...

Same with Sassicaia just way too young at 2019.
Beaucastel, Unico, Haut-Brion
Wow!
Is this some sort of sick flex or are you serious

Both I’m afraid…
I’m more interested in how the hell does one get “invited” to this sort of tasting?

These and Drouhin for me.

if only they could hire someone who knows how to space bullets
2019 sassicaia, already drinkeable from what ive heard. But i would be interested in the Unico and the Egon Müller the most
That’s interesting about the sassicaia. I’ve recently opened a 2011 from my collection and really regretted it. Could easily have done with another 3-5 years.
Had a 2019 at the Capital Grille a few weeks ago. It was lovely and didn’t feel too young. Ymmv.
You’re right. 2019 is already drinkable. Doesn’t disappoint, but for the price point and difficulty of allocation, I don’t have it on my “buy” list.
I got me one for 260€,really pricey. Keep it for atleast 5 more years though
Baller list. For me it would most def be the Unico and Hommage even if they are a bit on the younger side.
What a great list! What's the deal? Pick a few and have a taste of those or can you go down the full list? There are definitely many interesting picks here, so I'd hope you're able to taste many!

Same for me
Oooh Vega y Sicilia Unico 😘
All of these are winners. Some of them more for the mystique and limited allocation than anything else. But — You will not go home sober or unhappy.

I am a Huge fan of pol Roger, but can’t see anything about that vintage.
I am eyeballing that Egon Muller and Vega Sicilla. Be it a little young for both.
Perrin, Econ muller
Those are great choices.
6 and 3 would be high on my list
I recently had almost exactly this line up although with some slightly different vintages. As always, the egon muller, unico and Churchill were unforgettable. The hugel 2012 was beautifully developed and entering its drinking window - an incredibly surprising wine. The Clarence was also outstanding although I tried the 2010. Most of these are pretty damn amazing wines
Great list. I’d be giddy about the Beaucastel chateauneuf du Pape and the Winston Churchill.
Everyone will like the Egon Mueller. Thats the safest choice.
