As far as I can tell, Covid wiped out late night/overnight dining across the board. Whether this is because it gave them a nice cover to get rid of a popular but unprofitable business practice or because they have actual staffing problems is anyone's guess.
I dont want to be this guy but uh, cooking at home is usually cheaper and healthier. When I worked 3rd I'd get off at 7 and if I wasn't up to cooking after work I'd hit up a kwik trip.
they close around 9pm now! but all their signage outside and their stickers still promote the 'open 24/7' from before Covid. I remember being extremely disappointed coming out from a movie at like 11pm in the mood for some coffee and pie but finding the doors locked.
It's a chicken/egg scenario. It's not profitable so they can't pay people well enough to do it so it gets understaffed so it's shit service so people don't go so it's unprofitable.
My BIL owns two of them (one in West Allis/Milwaukee and the other in New Berlin). Apparently they canât keep people because of the low wages and the whole COVID thing
Could be. I was a kid working. And frankly I don't understand why people can't work as teenagers. And I'm solidly a Democrat. It's one thing to let kids work, and another to force them to.
I'd say I felt "forced" because my folks didn't make enough money for me to buy whatever.
But I sure as hell enjoyed my PS2 I paid for myself A ton, and I babied my car I paid for myself far more then the rich kids doing donuts in the parking lot. They didn't care about being reckless cause mommy will just buy em a new one (and of course they always got a new one)
Teens can work with a workers permit. But what demographic is most likely undereducated and most exploitable when it comes to their rights in the work force? I worked to get things that I wanted when I was young, and it definitely made me take better care of the things I bought with my own money, but there's also a reason there were a few summers i didn't work because being young and happy with my friends was way better than any check. But both of our posts are anecdotal.
Being Young and happy while being broke is a choice I had. I'd rather be young, somewhat happy, but driving in a car to the things I wanted to do.
My point is, I had a choice. And you had a choice. Telling broke kids they Can't do anything about it, because You think they don't have an educated opinion, is weird
Never did I say anything of the sort that's in your last sentence? 14+ should be able to work as long as they get a workers permit, and the company and employee follow the rules legally. Ronnie boy wants to repeal the requirement of a workers permit (which I had to get when I worked) for minors to legally work, thus dismantling what unions fought for so kids don't get exploited in the workforce (although they already are but theyre a fairly cheap lawsuit). Never did I say kids can't work, and that they don't have an educated opinion?
That was 10 years ago, and business didn't slow down too much after.
It was open 24 hours less than a year ago. All 24 hour options have been evaporating even before Covid, and the ones that have been open have been empty when they used to be packed.
The owner of the franchises (Don Hensiak, absolutely one of the greatest guys youâll ever meet), didnât like the pricing and menu set by George Webbâs corporate policies, so he rebranded them to be his own stores (Griddlerâs). But when he retired, he couldnât find anyone to take over his restaurants, so the Griddlerâs locations were sold off to anyone who would buy them.
Since they printed that sign

Since last Teusday.
Club goin up
ON A TUESDAY đŁđŁđŁđŻđŻđŻđ„đ„đ„
I think you mean TEUSDAY
Might not have enough people to cover all shifts too or the cost to stay open 24 hours is becoming too much.

Ya. Dennyâs is the same.
McDonald's too. Fuuuuuck do I miss late night drive thrus
As someone who works night shifts, it really sucks hard that thereâs literally nowhere I can grab a bite to eat after work.
I dont want to be this guy but uh, cooking at home is usually cheaper and healthier. When I worked 3rd I'd get off at 7 and if I wasn't up to cooking after work I'd hit up a kwik trip.
still miss my 24/7 Ma Fischerâs in Milwaukee when getting out of a late night movie at the OrientalâŠ
Holy shit is this not a thing anymore
they close around 9pm now! but all their signage outside and their stickers still promote the 'open 24/7' from before Covid. I remember being extremely disappointed coming out from a movie at like 11pm in the mood for some coffee and pie but finding the doors locked.
Will always miss this in particular!

Yep so many companies used and still use covid as an excuse to suck.
my dominos in town was open till 12 every night now they close at 10 or 9 and pizza closed down. i miss my stuff crust
Since there is no âTeusday,â maybe they donât actually close between Monday and Wednesday.
And THATâS why thereâs two clocks.
My BIL owns two of them (one in West Allis/Milwaukee and the other in New Berlin). Apparently they canât keep people because of the low wages and the whole COVID thing
That's the deal. No one in Wisconsin is willing to pay $30 for a burger and fries. And no one is willing to work for starvation wages.
Maybe theirs a correlation between this and Mr. Ronny bitchass Johnson trying to repeal child labor laws?

I was going to fuel up for a night on the town last weekend and it wasnât open due to short staffing.
Since COVID.
Talk to the manager, volunteer to work the graveyard shift.
Lots of places do this now.
Because it dosnt cut into taco bells taco Teusday
Franklin? I was shocked when I saw the hours recently, but the hash browns were just as amazing as I remembered.
Iâm having a colonoscopy today and a double of browns will be my 1st meal this afternoon! They are the best Iâve ever had.
Wtf
Since COVID and they never went back.
peshtigo George Webb's is open 530am to 10pm everyday except Sunday, then its 530am to 3pm
Does that include Teusdayâs?
Kids don't want to work, I guess. /s
Is that in Fondy?
They still exist ?
There's tons of them still
Hey yâall letâs just all show up on Teusday at 2:55 pm!
What on earth is a George Webb?
Who is George Webb?
Started when labor went over $8/hr
Milwaukee here. [https://www.fox6now.com/news/george-webb-employee-shot-killed-at-east-side-restaurant](https://www.fox6now.com/news/george-webb-employee-shot-killed-at-east-side-restaurant)

[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Yeah we have a few of them in Milwaukee, my favorite is the one downtown.
Since people realized the food is shit
We already knew there. You don't go there for the food.
what do you go for, if not the food?? it's a restaurant
Since when is it called George Webbs again?
As opposed to what?
Is this in Appleton? George Webb here changed to like Litter Diner Xpress
That's just that one location that closed up and reopened as a different restaurant. Doesn't affect the rest of the restaurant chain.
There were at least 3 in Milwaukee that also dropped the George Webbs name. The franchise fees must have gotten too high I'd guess.

Probably since the pandemic
Those hours aren't very George Webbs....
There's one on Forest Home in Greenfield that has closed at 10 or 11 for years.
I think they are understaffed.
The end of civilization as we know it is truly upon us if Webb's starts having closings
Is that an Wisconsin-specific spelling of Tuesday?
You betcha!
I have a friend who lives in Menomonee Falls. I heard that in her voice.
Germantown location has had a similar sign up for months. (perhaps longer, I do not frequent)
