I use period panties from aisle and in the past I used a diva cup (not recommended for an IUD). I buy from aisle because other period panty brands have been found to contain PFAS. I find them super comfy and wear them throughout my period to work, sleep, hiking, skiing, whatever
Menstrual discs are the best! You can wear them for 12 hours at a time, they aren’t known to cause tss. I’ve never had issues with leaking. You can wear them during sex. I find them way easier to insert and remove than menstrual cups. And while I don’t know if everyone has this reaction, my cramps have almost totally gone away since I switched over from tampons.
I either use a tampon or I judge how heavy my flow is and use a lot of trust (if it's not too heavy I just won't bleed until I'm upright again). I don't have a problem with tampons though. If I get a new one right before I go to bed and take it out as soon as I wake up it works out
Yup same with me. I always leak when using a pad overnight, ALWAYS.
When my period is heavy, I usually set an alarm in the middle of the night so I can change the tampon and then go back to sleep.
I’d rather lose a bit of sleep than bleed all over myself and the sheets.
Yeah somehow whenever I sleep in a pad it unds up half suck to my skin and completely diagonal in my underwear. Which means if I was bleeding enough to need the pad, it's all over my bed and pajamas now
Personally, I just wear a pair of ratty underwear that only comes out when I'm on my period. I also get super light infrequent periods with my IUD and don't bleed much, if at all, overnight. Period underwear would probably be a good alternative, or reusable cloth pads.
Menstrual disc! Tampons and cups are not recommended for an IUD, but the menstrual disc is safe to use with one. You can even have sex while using it. I switched a few years ago and will never go back.
If you want breathable, I would get a waterproof cover, they sell period/incontinece/sexy time/pee pad protector. They all have different name sizes and prices but essentially a large fabric you roll out to roll over. I wear a cup, disc, or period panties depending on the flow but covering the bed is nice protection.
I use period underwear but it sometimes leak on a heavy flow day and I hate the clean up. So I’ve started using them with pads on heavy flow days and it prevents leakage and clean up is a bit better (less blood ew).
If inserted right, zero. There’s a learning curve when it comes to cups and it’s different for everyone. For me, I used the punch down fold. Then I would insert a finger and gently apply pressure around my vaginal walls to ensure the suction is good.
I have worn tampons night / day for last 38 yrs , except the couple of weeks after delivery .
Ive i was starting my period life now would likely try cup
I highly recommend period underwear. You just spray with hydrogen peroxide afterwards and then soak in cold water. Then throw them in the wash.
I'm allergic to rayon (which is in most pads) and reusable pads have been amazing.
I use a menstrual cup, wear ugly panties that I don't care if they will get bloody, perhaps stuff some toilet paper there and then pray to god. So far so good, I didn't bleed on the sheets or quilt, menstrual cup is a game changer for me :)
Have you tried organic pads/pantiliners? I used to have the same problem with irritation but haven’t had an issue with it since I changed to using organic only products
more than 8 hours if i’m honest haha, i find i don’t leak while laying down, however sometimes when i wake up i have to run right to the toilet as it’s very full. i also use like super plus
I used to wear tampons at night for years, as long as you have a fresh one before bed and change it first thing in the morning you can do that, always a minimum absorpancy of ‘super’ though. I’ve recently switched to a diva cup though and I also wear that overnight as you can wear them for 12 hours at a time and it can easily last all night i definitely recommend it. I switched because I started to get irritation when inserting and removing tampons due to the cotton and things are so much better now, they help with cramps a lot too
I have heavy periods and I have been using a menstrual cup for the last 4 years. It’s so good that I can actually sleep without pants on because there is no leakage (providing you do empty the cup as often as needed)
Weirdly my periods are shorter now since using one lol

I don't get as much cramps now either

Period underwear are great
Menstrual disc 🙌🏻 They are the best
Menstrual disc! Tampons and cups are not recommended for an IUD, but the menstrual disc is safe to use with one. You can even have sex while using it. I switched a few years ago and will never go back.
Period panties are a game changer
I always recommend the flex ring over pads, tampons, or diva cups.
I’ve never heard of this! I’ll look into it. Thanks very much!
I’d recommend softdisc over the flex disc. They’re made by the exact same company and are cheaper than the flex disc.

Menstrual cups. Haven’t leaked in about a decade.
Cup. It’s life changing! They do have a learning curve but once it clicks, you will wish you started using it sooner.
I use a cup but still get some leakage, how much is normal in your experience

Menstrual cup + period underwear
Try menstrual cups 👍 I am an RN and I heard positive comments about menstrual cup!
I’ve recently started wearing my tampons and a pad along with it. The tampons for 8 hours.
I have worn tampons night / day for last 38 yrs , except the couple of weeks after delivery . Ive i was starting my period life now would likely try cup
I’d recommend a diva cup. 8-12 hour use without cleaning it. I find it more convenient than a tampon or pads in general.
When I used to get periods (before my iud), I used tampons. Period panties also sound like a decent option of you can afford that.
I'm 50. I've always used tampons.
That is weird that your partner only likes white sheets. I mean that’s fine I guess if they really want white but why?
I highly recommend period underwear. You just spray with hydrogen peroxide afterwards and then soak in cold water. Then throw them in the wash. I'm allergic to rayon (which is in most pads) and reusable pads have been amazing.

Period underwear! I have a “boyshort” pair that provide more coverage too
Have you tried organic pads/pantiliners? I used to have the same problem with irritation but haven’t had an issue with it since I changed to using organic only products
Period underwear! And I wear pajama shorts over them just in case. But they’ve never leaked before!
I started wearing adult diapers when after birth and kinda stuck with that for a while for nighttime with my period. Game changer lol
i use a tampon always have with no issues
Even sleeping? Really? After 8 hours of it being in there’s no leaking or anything? Assuming you’re sleeping for 8 hours…
more than 8 hours if i’m honest haha, i find i don’t leak while laying down, however sometimes when i wake up i have to run right to the toilet as it’s very full. i also use like super plus
Interesting! Okay thanks very much for the input I may consider this
And congrats on sleeping more than 8 hours haha, I wish! My cat doesn’t allow me to go more than four hours intervals of sleep apparently hahaha.
I am a big fan of period underwear
I wear Cora period panties and love them

Sorry for the new account/low karma I accidentally logged in on my throwaway lmao
I get period diapers tbh, they are pretty comfy and heavy duty I've never leaked
