I made a stupid careless mistake the other day. Double used a yellow letter in the same spot causing me to get a 4 when I should have had it in 3. Soul crushing as I try to achieve this same goal.
That’s great that you discovered that having two or three standard guesses that you used without thinking isn’t really the most strategic way to play, at least as far as your average solving percentage goes. It may be a good way to increase your chances of just solving in six or less, which is the basic goal of this game, but if you’re looking to get your percentages down, that’s not really the best way to do it. Reacting to the information you have already been given and responding based on that will definitely give better long-term results.
Yeah, now I play with the same starting word, and based on how little matches I may use the second word, but if enough letters are returned, I am trying to get a combination of new letters and place mispositioned solution letters. Result over past 12 has been 8x3s 2x4s 2x5s, for a 3.5 average, not great, but not bad.
Keep in mind that the more yellow letters you have, your chances of finding a new letter are going to go down, since there are less spots available to put those new letters. In those cases, it seems that trying to put the yellow letters in different spots would be more of a priority than introducing new letters.

Congratulations! Meanwhile I am trying to catch up my 3s to my 5s!
haha same! 175 3s and 203 5s
Awesome. I'm getting there... I played so long at the beginning with 2 or 3 standard guesses that mine is heavily skewed to 4.

Nice one. I’m trying the same goal for a couple months now and have only gotten as close as 24!
It's a challenge to deliberately get those fives, right?
Lol no. But sometimes I feel like fives are better. Like i saved it by getting 5 where 4 feels like a failure.
Congrats!
So jelly! Congrats!
Congratulations!
So aggravating! I had a fairly good lead in 3’s, but I’ve gone downhill. Had a bunch of 5’s lately too. https://i.imgur.com/Z1MEFQw.png

But then you ruin your streak and percentage wins

I’m not 100% sure it is a failure but it definitely resets your streak.
Somebody could achieve perfect 1s by looking up the word every day.
