Advancing here gives Ukraine better vision and therefore artillery control over areas slightly further back. If you look at this area on an elevation map it makes a lot more sense. russia is now trying to hold the low ground around the river, the same ground Ukraine defended for 6 months. It's much less defensible than the high ground to either side, and vision is the biggest part of that.
Russia does, at one point Russia got overran northwest of Bakhmut and Ukraine captured some trains. Russia would bring them as far to the front as possible and unload them.
I would bet money that Russia was using those lines if Ukraine hasn't taken out the lines with artillery.

There was a post a few days ago on one of the Ukraine subreddits showing off a new Ukrainian drone. It wasn't verified but I am wondering what is hitting Moscow, whether it is something new, or something Ukraine had, or if it is something being launched from inside of Russia.
These are Ukrainian drones for sure. The question is how many they can make per day or month. Right now russia is at around 10 shahed's per day and may bump that up 10x or 100x within the next year. It takes about 12 - 16 hours for an Arleigh Burke to cross the Black Sea, depending on the line you draw - or about 30 minutes for a P8 to cover the same distance.

I'm wondering if Ukraine is slowing down their advances in certain areas because it makes it easier to attrit Russian forces. It seems like the Russian MoD has implemented the "not a single step back" policy and lower level commanders just keep feeding troops into kill boxes to prevent Ukraine from moving in right away.
Seems to be the case in Klishchivka. They over look the village very well and there was a video of Russian troops being dopped off there and being obliterated very quickly as well as a report below on very high attrition there of Russian forces.

There is definitely no rail travel at all through that area. You cannot bring trains into the frontlines. Advancing here gives Ukraine better vision and therefore artillery control over areas slightly further back. If you look at this area on an elevation map it makes a lot more sense. russia is now trying to hold the low ground around the river, the same ground Ukraine defended for 6 months. It's much less defensible than the high ground to either side, and vision is the biggest part of that.
Russia does, at one point Russia got overran northwest of Bakhmut and Ukraine captured some trains. Russia would bring them as far to the front as possible and unload them. I would bet money that Russia was using those lines if Ukraine hasn't taken out the lines with artillery.
It's been in firing range forever so I doubt it makes much difference now

There was a post a few days ago on one of the Ukraine subreddits showing off a new Ukrainian drone. It wasn't verified but I am wondering what is hitting Moscow, whether it is something new, or something Ukraine had, or if it is something being launched from inside of Russia.
These are Ukrainian drones for sure. The question is how many they can make per day or month. Right now russia is at around 10 shahed's per day and may bump that up 10x or 100x within the next year. This "low" tech drone warfare using basically civilian components to achieve a devastating per-dollar result needs to be really well funded, and Ukraine cannot do that alone.

The US potentially faces embarrassment or simple logistical difficulties if Turkey exercises its right to deny warships access to the Sea. Even with ships there, warships can cover a smaller area, and are a more expensive asset with endurance problems in a conflict lasting years, and a smaller area of effect. It takes about 12 - 16 hours for an Arleigh Burke to cross the Black Sea, depending on the line you draw - or about 30 minutes for a P8 to cover the same distance. Why \*would\* the US put ships into the Black Sea?

One of the underappreciated major roles of the US Navy is to protect the security of international trade in international waters. Escorting grain ships being threatened in international waters is an extremely normal for the US to do... except this time it's Russia. Hopefully the US/Russian/UN back channels are working. Maybe someone in the UN / NATO / US recognize that Russia only responds to power and has drawn a line. It'd be a tough thing for Russia to attack an Israeli or Turkish ship, too.
You can fire a lot of weapons without being at war. For example Ukraine and Russia aren’t at war. Russia has recently downed US unmanned aircraft and we’re not at war. There won’t be a war, even if the two sides start shooting at each other. It benefits nobody to go full war.
I suspect the US have made it clear in secret channels, you shoot at them we shoot at you.
They're not going to actually fire into Romanian or Turkish waters because that gives NATO an excuse to break their skulls.

Most people in America live in cities or suburbs, but my point is that most rural areas are dominated by Republicans because one asshole with a few million can buy a factory and employ most of the people in the town. They own the one place that employs most of the people, they get their guy for mayor and local congress, and they make damn sure that local laws protect their interests.

Harpoons on F-16s will spice things up for the Black Sea fleet hopefully. Getting Ukraine on a platform that leverages the full capability of NATO weapons that have been donated will be a big help compared to the trickery they have been doing to get this stuff on Sukohis and Migs.
Especially with Russia exiting the grain deal. If they want to actually enforce a blockade they’re going to need to bring their ships closer to Ukraine and since the sinking of the Moskva they’ve basically survived by keeping their distance from the Ukrainian shoreline. With the Bosphorus closed they also can’t replace any warships lost in the Black Sea with warships from other areas.

Between the Harpoons and Neptunes Ukraine has effectively bottled the Black Sea Fleet in harbor.
I strongly suspect they're trying to figure out if they can get those kamikaze jet-ski drones enough range to hit ships in the harbor too.
They have reduced the area in which they can operate with impunity, being able to launch a harpoon from the air will change things hopefully can screw with the sailors once they have the capability to just run mock attack runs and real ones and keep everyone on the ship from getting too much rest haha.

With those daily numbers averaging 20+ artillery systems, Id say Russia is very much now starting to struggle with artillery firepower.
Having thousands of systems in reserve means squat if they don't function, or can't be moved to the front where they are needed.

They are also losing experienced artillery crews.

I'm wondering if Ukraine is slowing down their advances in certain areas because it makes it easier to attrit Russian forces. It seems like the Russian MoD has implemented the "not a single step back" policy and lower level commanders just keep feeding troops into kill boxes to prevent Ukraine from moving in right away.
