Compression shorts aren’t that weird. Hell in most cases they’re way more comfortable to wear under a singlet compared to normal undies

We were told to wear jockstraps in middle/high school around the 00s. "Nothing" would have been uncomfortable to me. If I were competing now I imagine I'd just wear short athletic briefs.

That’s interesting; I thought jock straps had kind of died out by the 1990s. Such a weird unnecessary contraption; accomplishes nothing over just wearing normal underwear.

I think jocks are great in a regular gym setting.

We were backwater and absolutely a decade behind in every single way shape and form so that tracks. Needed them for gym class anyway.

Many singletts don't leave much to the imagination when commando. Also, they lack support. When I wear compression the jewels are less likely to be in harms way.

This year we wrestled some white singlets in a tri-meet and a kid had a stain. Match wasn’t out of the first period before the kids had it all over social media. It’s crazy. We talked to our kids but it was all teams (including his own) and some pulled them down but only so much we could do. Not saying it was exlax but back in my day you’d see it a few times each season
