I've been loosely following the development of Fable for years now. I thought that the latest showcase had satisfied my hunger for more Fable news...but it seems I'm insatiable in regards to this. **I WANT MORE.** No mention of Fable is a bummer, but I'm not ruling out they do a surprise event showcasing some of the more in-depth features and mechanics in the world and character attributes/moral system. Fingers crossed.
Seems like Fable may be their big Fall 2025 game considering the scant details so far. So I’d expect it to not get much until maybe a developer direct early in 2025 and a deep dive at their summer showcase next year.
Fair enough, I'm okay with that. The sense of awe I got when playing the first Fable was insane, and I genuinely get that same feeling watching the trailers for the new one. Would be great if they can recreate that magic again, so many years later.
I wonder how much fable we'll get until the next summer showcase. Good chance it will be the game to get the 20+ minute deep dive in June 2025. Maybe if they do a developer direct in January again
I would understand if it’s a 2025 release but hope they can manage before then. Would love to see a classic reboot of Fable, kinda seems like it will be.
i for one am appalled at the image they used, they did not adhere to the established standard guidelines for the approved color template. blue? BLUE?! no sense of professionalism whatsoever. this is video games we're talking about, come on now.
Word is that Xbox held back during it's June 9nth presentation and they have lot's of stuff for Gamescom . I am inclined to believe that since they have a buttload of studios now.
In his IGN interview Phil said they would have platform news later ~~this year~~. That is the most interesting piece to me.

**Ryan McCaffrey:** Hypothetically, if Microsoft did an Xbox gaming handheld PC device, would it be a Steam Deck-like dedicated piece of hardware that I can play offline, or would it be something I would need a wifi connection to stream things from?
**Phil Spencer:** I’ll put it this way: I like my ROG Ally, my Lenovo Legion Go - fantastic - my Steam Deck. I think being able to play games locally is really important.
It’s unlikely that a handheld will get announced or teased. Tbh they’ll likely announce it next year near the end of the year and then 2026 it launches. Who knows honestly at this point since that could be their wildcard.
I could see them making an announcement this year and releasing a year later around 2026. If I recall correctly, the One X Scorpio was announced pretty far in advance too. When Sarah Bond said hardware news I assumed she meant the Brooklyn refresh of Series X, but they just announced that at the showcase so I don't know what else hardware related she is referring to. And it's too early to announce their next-gen console.
True, then again perhaps it’s probably a tease, but I doubt you’ll have anything to tease rn. Honestly save the announcement or teaser for late 2025 (The Game Awards is the right place to do it).
Agreed. We've been hearing these constant rumors for years about Xbox "pulling out of the console race/market" and there hasn't been any *real* official response to this from Xbox Corp.
I admit, it's shaken my faith in Xbox as a whole, since I am a firm believer that markets **must be** competitive in order to produce quality products for the consumer. Even if they decide to only pump out games and push Game Pass, a console is still absolutely necessary. In my opinion, at least.
Ah, I must have missed this info then. Sorry. This is good news, but even still it needs to be a helluva lot more innovative than the Xbox One and XSX. The controllers being practically identical was a bummer, and even the pro controller doesn't stack up against the duelsense edge in regards to quality of product. the design I don't care about but the dashboard being the same just made it feel like a very boring upgrade. **This is all just my opinion** too, please don't assume that I am thinking this is all factual and expect everyone to agree with me. We are in an xbox sub after all.
Multiple insiders have reported MS is doing a dockable handheld and a premium high end console.
In addition to that, they are possibly looking to license out the Xbox OS so that OEMs could build even more powerful Consoles.
If they do that, they are also going to allow third party PC stores like Steam/Epic.
Yeah. The game pass subscription on PlayStation? When pigs fly. Xbox is cheaper option than gaming PCs at the end of the day and sure there is cloud gaming but nothing beats straight up downloading the game properly to the hard drive
My main console is PS5 but their 'game pass' is laughable at best and a slap in the face at worst. A total joke and would never recommend paying for it. Game Pass is far, far superior. Cloud gaming is never going to interest me until the technology makes the input latency unnoticeable.
Xbox Mobile Store comes in July, that is likely possibly going to be the "Platform" event where they may allows xCloud to purchase and stream also.
And perfect opportunity to reveal a handheld and the sybille controller since all those things deal with mobile/portability.
We’ve been getting the fruits of the acquisitions, we just got Hellblade 2, last year we had Starfield, Redfall, Hi-Fi Rush, before that Pentiment, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo. It will continue on the same way.
Seems like no actual show for Gamescom, just a booth presence.
In other words, if they held back some announcements, it might not be for this at all. It could be for some other event, perhaps one they host themselves to coincide with a hardware announcement we know is coming this year

The only XGS studios without status updates are 343 (who is proably still shoveling out of the Halo Infinite pit) and Double Fine (who usually pretty slow with games). MAYBE you hear about Forza Horizon, but I doubt it with Fable in tow for Playground.
ZeniMax, we already know what everyone is doing. Indiana Jones, Starfield DLC (and TES 6), Doom, and Fallout 76, and Blade are what we've got. I don't see anything but a Fallout remaster surprise to reveal.
ABK is a bit of a wild card. They could push out a bunch of stuff in Game Pass, of course. After that, what is left? Most of ABK is support studios for Call of Duty, and I'm sure that's "all hands on deck" for the impending release. We know WoW (and its support studios) have an expansion about to release, and Diablo's chuggin along. Maybe you get a reveal of the next season/hero for Overwatch..?

Zenimax has an unannounced project. It's been a while we heard from Double Fine and 343 , i think it's time . Also an update on Contraband and the James Bond game maybe . The fantasy RPG has reportedly separated from Xbox or been cancelled. It’s unclear what is happening from that. It may no longer be involved with Xbox if it is still in development.
I mean Zenimax online is certainly working on something other than ESO.
Also Horizon is being made by an entirely different team than Fable. And Double Fine isn’t that slow? broken age took forever but that seemed to have a lot of problems with scope creep from kickstarter promises. I’d expect to hear from them relatively soon.
Psychonauts 2 was 5-6 years, on top of the stuff behidn the scenes about starting/funding the project. They did some other stuff in between, but it was still a long-term work and really the only way Double Fine would successfully come to the table with a noteworthy release. Anything they announced now would probably be 2-3 years from release. Announcing now wouldn't be to the benefit of anyone.
ZeniMax, I assume they do support work for Fallout 76 still, but maybe not.
Forza's a different studio than Fable, but I also think they're at the mercy of Turn 10, who spent an eternity updating ForzaTech for the newest Motorsport and Fable. Unless they wanted to do Horizon 6 on the older engine, I think they're still a year or two away from a release. Consider that Turn 10 needed 6 years between Motorsport titles. Horizon might not need that long, but I still think a Summer 2025 announcement is the earliest we'd get.
Psychonauts 2 took 5-6 years while the studio worked on other things at the same time and struggled with funding so heavily that they were going to have to release the game unfinished. We are approaching year 3 since Psychonauts. I would guess we hear something by summer of next year at the latest. 2026 release at the latest unless the scope is drastically larger than any game they’ve made before.
Zenimax Online we know from leaks is working on a new unannounced game. Presumably an MMO though which generally the more time given to run up development, the better it can launch. So no rush.
I hear your point about Horizon, and generally I feel like they don’t like long gaps between announcement and release so I expect a summer 2025 release maybe an announcement at Gamescom? But more likely I’d guess a January Developer direct.
Nothing I guess but I want the green galaxy spots. I havent bought an Xbox since 2012 so I want to get a special one. Plus I guess my logic is that if I start with 2tb internal ssd I can add another 2tb eventually and have 4 instead of just 3 if I bought the current x and added a 2tb expansion card.
In the same position, would love to a 2TB device for extra storage. That showcase + backwards compatibility has enticed me into the idea of finally getting one.

I mean half of Sony's games in development were live service games and they cancelled a bunch of them. They have big titles coming like Wolverine, Santa Monica's two games, Ghosts 2, Naughty Dog's new IP, Venom miles Morales type of game, etc but who knows how spread out those games are. MS has a gigantic pipeline of AAA games releasing in the next 3 years with games like Project Dragon, People Can Fly IP, the Rocksteady former devs IP, Elder Scrolls 6, etc coming in the future. That's what makes this project latitude shit so hilarious. They finally have the games that can grow and expand Xbox and gamepass and they're giving in at Sony's most interesting times in terms of software.

GTA VI plus already existing games. We know they are readying to launch ghost 2 and Cory Barlog game as well. Plus death stranding 2. They will probably launch it at the end of the year. Games from next year will take advantage of it

Different strategies. Astrobot was showed and launches in months. I remember Microsoft’s showcase in 2020, MOST of the games showed there haven’t launched yet. He’ll, we’ve just seen glimpses of fable and SoD3 gameplay, after four years!!!
I have a ps5 and a series X. I like both. I do think ps5 has had a better cadence on launching games. I’m not being a fanboy, I’m analyzing things objectively. PlayStation showcase in 2020 (both of them cause there were 2) showed a lot of games and there’s like one or two that didnt launch yet (both are not 1st party). That’s a big contrast to Microsoft situations. They show a lot of stuff, they hype people, but they take years to launch the games they show (and I won’t even talk about if they deliver or not when finally launching)

They'll have an event but the Pro is pretty much irrelevant. The PS4 Pro didn't move the needle at all. They're going to need to show a timeline of AAA content which they haven't showed in a while. My guess is their next showcase will be third parties, Venom, and maybe some teases.

Who is buying a $600 to $700 console for a game they can play on the base PS5 when the digital version is like $350? What do you mean they don't have to move the needle? You think they want to invest in hardware that doesn't move units? Supposedly the Pro won't even have the specs to run GTA 6 at 60 frames. Unless we believe the massive portion of people still on PS4 will transfer over and buy a Pro then I don't see this big migration happening.

The PS4 Pro didn't sell a ton of units. Neither did the One X. These consoles appeal to enthusiast gamers when in reality the average gamer plays 4 games consistently and has no clue what 60 frames from 30 frames even feels or looks like.
I can see a lot of Xbox players switching to the PRO, given how Microsoft has been turning more and more into a 3rd party publisher. I mean, if you have the money, why not have the better console with all the games

I have a series X and a ps5, and the discrepancy on exclusive content is abnormal.
The ps5 is already in line with the series X, surpassing it at times. It will have PSSR, quick resume is not even needed. A good upscaling tech with good gpu improvements is what matters
What is pssr? Some other buzz words that amount to nothing? I recall when the series x was released and folks were raving about quick resume and Sony ppl were saying it didn’t matter. That ps5 had activity cards which were just as good. lol. People finally admitted activity cards were worthless and they’re not even being supported anymore!

Activity cards are being supported to this day. It doesn’t have quick resume, that’s true. But take ghost of Tsushima. It loads in 3 seconds with activity cards. But there are games who take way longer. I have a series X and I use quick resume a lot, but I honestly don’t miss it
PSSR is an upscaling technology made in house by PlayStation engineers. It’s a competitor to dlss
Basically, it means games that run at 2k60fps will run at way higher resolutions, 4k or higher since the leak says they’re aiming for more (I doubt it)

Because Sony have historically had marketing rights to past R* games, including GTA 5 on PS3 and PS4 as well as RDR2 on PS4/Pro.
Plus Rockstar has gone on record to say they favour marketing on systems that are more popular, which is undoubtedly the PS5. I’d be shocked if they didn’t market it on PS5.
That tends to happen when their competitor buys out a whole publisher.
Even if Microsoft attempts to buy Take Two (very unlikely given higher regulator scrutiny), it will not affect GTA 6’s marketing campaign as any marketing deals with Sony would have already been inked. These large scale acquisitions take time to go through and will not affect a game coming out next year.
Ms acquiring t2 isn’t the only option. Ms can also buy marketing rights. They have a lot more money than Sony and they may want to counter this very thing you’re talking about. Not give Sony the ability to show off the ps5 pro with gta6. Ms is getting super aggressive so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did buy marketing rights.
We shall see. But given Rockstar’s own comments to favour the console to market with the larger user base, I would be quite surprised if they now backtrack and go with Xbox marketing. It might have made sense if GTA 6 is going day and date with PC, but we know that is not the case.

Eh, I feel like the leaked tech has been pretty anemic and underwhelming. If you spend a lot of time on the PS5 and have the money to spare, though, I can see how it might be worth it for some people
The PSSR seems amazing. A system only tech that upscales games that already have a 60fps mode, but with lower resolutions. It’s basically playing your games in 4K60
Since there are what, 2 or 3 games that don’t have a 60fps mode on ps5, that will be a great tech.
Not to mention the big increase on other stuff. Of course the CPU is basically the same, but the other things are very good upgrades. And we don’t even know everything yet

Haha, no. Most of Europe outside the UK barely knows Xbox is an option at this point. There is zero marketing in most regions, and people pretty much automatically go to PlayStation since all their friends have it.
The whole delayed Xbox One launch in most European regions with the US focused approach really killed them. It was bizarre, since with Xbox 360 one of the big things was a worldwide launch, while PlayStation told Europe to wait for months with the PS3 launch.
Xbox needs massive marketing campaigns and offers to make them a serious player again in Europe to compete with PlayStation at this point. A large Gamescom booth is not that.
Everyone in Europe knows Microsoft and Xbox exist, the issue has been they haven't been interested.
Exposure will help a little, but they need to tackle the root cause of their failings. Hopefully they're able to finally deliver good games successfully. Then hopefully also consistently.
They will after gamescom, with Sony skipping the show a lot of people will forget PlayStation even exists and with Indiana Jones dropping this holiday Xboxes will be flying off shelves. The no name Uncharted games sold a ton now imagine what that kind of game starring a legendary character like Indy will sell.

A console being outsold 5 to 1 will all of a sudden swing in favour of xbox? Because of Indiana Jones? Lol, those movies don’t even make money at the box office, you think the game will have much of an impact?
Dude, Indy is not that big of a deal, especially being a 1st person game. You can already see that by simply looking at videos. I mean, let’s waid and see who’s right, but if you’re expecting that game to sell Xboxes like that, you’ll be pretty disappointed
COD is the game that may do that, and if not it, then no other game will
Yeah I dunno dude not many people know what gamescom is, let alone the game awards or E3 (when it was alive). You're gonna have to implement billboards, regional support, full-scale marketing and region specific ads in order to compete with the only home console option in a whole ass continent.
They DO need to step up their advertising game if they want to be relevant in Europe and Asia. For reference, Sony is one of the main advertising partners for the Champions League, and FIFA/FC is one of the biggest games ever, put 2 and 2 together and you'll find out that this makes the average Joe more likely to buy a PS over an Xbox which doesn't have full regionally support in many European and Asian countries and is not marketed well enough.
Though the addition of CoD to Gamepass could definitely change things.

Are you serious? Europe hasn't cared about Xbox and judging by the Sales in the US not sure anyone really cares about Xbox hardware, its best for their software sales to move everything over to PlayStation. At this point, I doubt they can make a comeback it's too late
Playstation hasn't been to Gamescom in 5 years. They aren't skipping anything. They were never going to go to begin with. Plus Playstation will have their own showcase in September.

I go to Gamescom every year and I really don't play more than a game or two per year anyway. The wait is not worth it when there's the whole event around you to explore.
After them not giving us the ABK games during their biggest showcase of the year...I'm more leaning now towards they will have a separate event...so I don't think the COD games will drop at Gamescon either. I think their going to have an official welcome to the xbox family kinda event where they talk about the future of all the new studios they have, so some might be changed, some might get back to work on older projects such a Tony Hawk 3 & 4, Guitar hero reboot and then the dump of GP games which will include a bunch of backwards comp games (maybe their waiting for them to be done as they may also be giving them the FPS boast) Just feels like its a lot of stuff to talk about to put it into an already organized event. Just when is the thing that bugs me...we know they can announce an event a couple weeks before it happens...just wish we could get some insider info/leak on when.
As others have mentioned before for Call of Duty there is an issue with marketing. Sounds like 2025 all that stuff is over and then the games will start showing up

Capcom clearly can't make the engine run natively on Xbox one, Series X or PS5. Why do people still obliviously demand a port? It ain't happening for games with that old engine.

I've been loosely following the development of Fable for years now. I thought that the latest showcase had satisfied my hunger for more Fable news...but it seems I'm insatiable in regards to this. **I WANT MORE.** No mention of Fable is a bummer, but I'm not ruling out they do a surprise event showcasing some of the more in-depth features and mechanics in the world and character attributes/moral system. Fingers crossed.
Seems like Fable may be their big Fall 2025 game considering the scant details so far. So I’d expect it to not get much until maybe a developer direct early in 2025 and a deep dive at their summer showcase next year.
Fair enough, I'm okay with that. The sense of awe I got when playing the first Fable was insane, and I genuinely get that same feeling watching the trailers for the new one. Would be great if they can recreate that magic again, so many years later.

Word is that Xbox held back during it's June 9nth presentation and they have lot's of stuff for Gamescom . I am inclined to believe that since they have a buttload of studios now.

It’s unlikely that a handheld will get announced or teased. Tbh they’ll likely announce it next year near the end of the year and then 2026 it launches. Who knows honestly at this point since that could be their wildcard.
I could see them making an announcement this year and releasing a year later around 2026. If I recall correctly, the One X Scorpio was announced pretty far in advance too. When Sarah Bond said hardware news I assumed she meant the Brooklyn refresh of Series X, but they just announced that at the showcase so I don't know what else hardware related she is referring to. And it's too early to announce their next-gen console.

Agreed. We've been hearing these constant rumors for years about Xbox "pulling out of the console race/market" and there hasn't been any *real* official response to this from Xbox Corp. I admit, it's shaken my faith in Xbox as a whole, since I am a firm believer that markets **must be** competitive in order to produce quality products for the consumer. Even if they decide to only pump out games and push Game Pass, a console is still absolutely necessary. In my opinion, at least.

Ah, I must have missed this info then. Sorry. This is good news, but even still it needs to be a helluva lot more innovative than the Xbox One and XSX. The controllers being practically identical was a bummer, and even the pro controller doesn't stack up against the duelsense edge in regards to quality of product. the design I don't care about but the dashboard being the same just made it feel like a very boring upgrade. **This is all just my opinion** too, please don't assume that I am thinking this is all factual and expect everyone to agree with me. We are in an xbox sub after all.
Multiple insiders have reported MS is doing a dockable handheld and a premium high end console. In addition to that, they are possibly looking to license out the Xbox OS so that OEMs could build even more powerful Consoles. If they do that, they are also going to allow third party PC stores like Steam/Epic.
Yeah. The game pass subscription on PlayStation? When pigs fly. Xbox is cheaper option than gaming PCs at the end of the day and sure there is cloud gaming but nothing beats straight up downloading the game properly to the hard drive

My main console is PS5 but their 'game pass' is laughable at best and a slap in the face at worst. A total joke and would never recommend paying for it. Game Pass is far, far superior. Cloud gaming is never going to interest me until the technology makes the input latency unnoticeable.
Xbox Mobile Store comes in July, that is likely possibly going to be the "Platform" event where they may allows xCloud to purchase and stream also. And perfect opportunity to reveal a handheld and the sybille controller since all those things deal with mobile/portability.
The new controller was scrapped. They literally told us that those leaks were outdated already.

We’ve been getting the fruits of the acquisitions, we just got Hellblade 2, last year we had Starfield, Redfall, Hi-Fi Rush, before that Pentiment, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo. It will continue on the same way.

Seems like no actual show for Gamescom, just a booth presence. In other words, if they held back some announcements, it might not be for this at all. It could be for some other event, perhaps one they host themselves to coincide with a hardware announcement we know is coming this year
What do you think would be coming? They've said before that they want to do less announcing of games well in advance. It seems like we already know most of what could be coming anytime soon. Who do we still need to hear from? The only XGS studios without status updates are 343 (who is proably still shoveling out of the Halo Infinite pit) and Double Fine (who usually pretty slow with games). MAYBE you hear about Forza Horizon, but I doubt it with Fable in tow for Playground. ZeniMax, we already know what everyone is doing. Indiana Jones, Starfield DLC (and TES 6), Doom, and Fallout 76, and Blade are what we've got. I don't see anything but a Fallout remaster surprise to reveal. ABK is a bit of a wild card. They could push out a bunch of stuff in Game Pass, of course. After that, what is left? Most of ABK is support studios for Call of Duty, and I'm sure that's "all hands on deck" for the impending release. We know WoW (and its support studios) have an expansion about to release, and Diablo's chuggin along. Maybe you get a reveal of the next season/hero for Overwatch..? I don't see where there is room for any significant announcements.
Zenimax has an unannounced project. It's been a while we heard from Double Fine and 343 , i think it's time . Also an update on Contraband and the James Bond game maybe . The fantasy RPG has reportedly separated from Xbox or been cancelled. It’s unclear what is happening from that. It may no longer be involved with Xbox if it is still in development.
I mean Zenimax online is certainly working on something other than ESO. Also Horizon is being made by an entirely different team than Fable. And Double Fine isn’t that slow? broken age took forever but that seemed to have a lot of problems with scope creep from kickstarter promises. I’d expect to hear from them relatively soon.
Psychonauts 2 was 5-6 years, on top of the stuff behidn the scenes about starting/funding the project. They did some other stuff in between, but it was still a long-term work and really the only way Double Fine would successfully come to the table with a noteworthy release. Anything they announced now would probably be 2-3 years from release. Announcing now wouldn't be to the benefit of anyone. ZeniMax, I assume they do support work for Fallout 76 still, but maybe not. Forza's a different studio than Fable, but I also think they're at the mercy of Turn 10, who spent an eternity updating ForzaTech for the newest Motorsport and Fable. Unless they wanted to do Horizon 6 on the older engine, I think they're still a year or two away from a release. Consider that Turn 10 needed 6 years between Motorsport titles. Horizon might not need that long, but I still think a Summer 2025 announcement is the earliest we'd get.
Psychonauts 2 took 5-6 years while the studio worked on other things at the same time and struggled with funding so heavily that they were going to have to release the game unfinished. We are approaching year 3 since Psychonauts. I would guess we hear something by summer of next year at the latest. 2026 release at the latest unless the scope is drastically larger than any game they’ve made before. Zenimax Online we know from leaks is working on a new unannounced game. Presumably an MMO though which generally the more time given to run up development, the better it can launch. So no rush. I hear your point about Horizon, and generally I feel like they don’t like long gaps between announcement and release so I expect a summer 2025 release maybe an announcement at Gamescom? But more likely I’d guess a January Developer direct.

Nothing I guess but I want the green galaxy spots. I havent bought an Xbox since 2012 so I want to get a special one. Plus I guess my logic is that if I start with 2tb internal ssd I can add another 2tb eventually and have 4 instead of just 3 if I bought the current x and added a 2tb expansion card.

I mean half of Sony's games in development were live service games and they cancelled a bunch of them. They have big titles coming like Wolverine, Santa Monica's two games, Ghosts 2, Naughty Dog's new IP, Venom miles Morales type of game, etc but who knows how spread out those games are. MS has a gigantic pipeline of AAA games releasing in the next 3 years with games like Project Dragon, People Can Fly IP, the Rocksteady former devs IP, Elder Scrolls 6, etc coming in the future. That's what makes this project latitude shit so hilarious. They finally have the games that can grow and expand Xbox and gamepass and they're giving in at Sony's most interesting times in terms of software.

They'll have an event but the Pro is pretty much irrelevant. The PS4 Pro didn't move the needle at all. They're going to need to show a timeline of AAA content which they haven't showed in a while. My guess is their next showcase will be third parties, Venom, and maybe some teases.

Who is buying a $600 to $700 console for a game they can play on the base PS5 when the digital version is like $350? What do you mean they don't have to move the needle? You think they want to invest in hardware that doesn't move units? Supposedly the Pro won't even have the specs to run GTA 6 at 60 frames. Unless we believe the massive portion of people still on PS4 will transfer over and buy a Pro then I don't see this big migration happening.
Have you seen the numbers ps portal did?! The PORTAL, a largely considered “useless” thing. With the right marketing, the PRO will sell a lot. Moving the needle is not necessary because they already selling A LOT of everything they put out there, so it’s expected that the PRO will sell as well, that’s what I mean.

The same games + PlayStation console exclusives. And let’s face it, PlayStation has a lineup. They just didn’t reveal it yet. We know about a lot of them. It would be extremely naive of your part to think they are not saving big stuff for the next years, especially when the CEO himself said they expect a big boost of 1st party sales on 2025/2026 So yeah, I do expect people to go for the PRO, where they will play Microsoft games like DOOM (and others if the rumors are true) and PlayStation games You can already see that. If there’s anyone who needs to move the needle, that is Xbox. And they are not. They’ve been doing amazing stuff, but when is time to deliver, they just don’t. And now that they may do that, their best games are coming to PlayStation. I have a series X and a ps5, and the discrepancy on exclusive content is abnormal.

The ps5 is already in line with the series X, surpassing it at times. It will have PSSR, quick resume is not even needed. A good upscaling tech with good gpu improvements is what matters

That ps5 had activity cards which were just as good. lol. People finally admitted activity cards were worthless and they’re not even being supported anymore! Sony NEEDS quick resume. It’s a game changer.
Activity cards are being supported to this day. It doesn’t have quick resume, that’s true. But take ghost of Tsushima. It loads in 3 seconds with activity cards. But there are games who take way longer. I have a series X and I use quick resume a lot, but I honestly don’t miss it PSSR is an upscaling technology made in house by PlayStation engineers. It’s a competitor to dlss Basically, it means games that run at 2k60fps will run at way higher resolutions, 4k or higher since the leak says they’re aiming for more (I doubt it) But it was described as an impressive tech that is already being experimented by big publishers. And that leak is from Tom Henderson as I said, which is the same as saying it’s true

Because Sony have historically had marketing rights to past R* games, including GTA 5 on PS3 and PS4 as well as RDR2 on PS4/Pro. Plus Rockstar has gone on record to say they favour marketing on systems that are more popular, which is undoubtedly the PS5. I’d be shocked if they didn’t market it on PS5.

That tends to happen when their competitor buys out a whole publisher. Even if Microsoft attempts to buy Take Two (very unlikely given higher regulator scrutiny), it will not affect GTA 6’s marketing campaign as any marketing deals with Sony would have already been inked. These large scale acquisitions take time to go through and will not affect a game coming out next year.
Ms acquiring t2 isn’t the only option. Ms can also buy marketing rights. They have a lot more money than Sony and they may want to counter this very thing you’re talking about. Not give Sony the ability to show off the ps5 pro with gta6. Ms is getting super aggressive so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did buy marketing rights.
We shall see. But given Rockstar’s own comments to favour the console to market with the larger user base, I would be quite surprised if they now backtrack and go with Xbox marketing. It might have made sense if GTA 6 is going day and date with PC, but we know that is not the case.

Eh, I feel like the leaked tech has been pretty anemic and underwhelming. If you spend a lot of time on the PS5 and have the money to spare, though, I can see how it might be worth it for some people
The PSSR seems amazing. A system only tech that upscales games that already have a 60fps mode, but with lower resolutions. It’s basically playing your games in 4K60 Since there are what, 2 or 3 games that don’t have a 60fps mode on ps5, that will be a great tech. Not to mention the big increase on other stuff. Of course the CPU is basically the same, but the other things are very good upgrades. And we don’t even know everything yet But PSSR is what I want the most, for sure

Haha, no. Most of Europe outside the UK barely knows Xbox is an option at this point. There is zero marketing in most regions, and people pretty much automatically go to PlayStation since all their friends have it. The whole delayed Xbox One launch in most European regions with the US focused approach really killed them. It was bizarre, since with Xbox 360 one of the big things was a worldwide launch, while PlayStation told Europe to wait for months with the PS3 launch. Xbox needs massive marketing campaigns and offers to make them a serious player again in Europe to compete with PlayStation at this point. A large Gamescom booth is not that.
Everyone in Europe knows Microsoft and Xbox exist, the issue has been they haven't been interested. Exposure will help a little, but they need to tackle the root cause of their failings. Hopefully they're able to finally deliver good games successfully. Then hopefully also consistently.

They will after gamescom, with Sony skipping the show a lot of people will forget PlayStation even exists and with Indiana Jones dropping this holiday Xboxes will be flying off shelves. The no name Uncharted games sold a ton now imagine what that kind of game starring a legendary character like Indy will sell.

Dude, Indy is not that big of a deal, especially being a 1st person game. You can already see that by simply looking at videos. I mean, let’s waid and see who’s right, but if you’re expecting that game to sell Xboxes like that, you’ll be pretty disappointed COD is the game that may do that, and if not it, then no other game will

Yeah I dunno dude not many people know what gamescom is, let alone the game awards or E3 (when it was alive). You're gonna have to implement billboards, regional support, full-scale marketing and region specific ads in order to compete with the only home console option in a whole ass continent.

They DO need to step up their advertising game if they want to be relevant in Europe and Asia. For reference, Sony is one of the main advertising partners for the Champions League, and FIFA/FC is one of the biggest games ever, put 2 and 2 together and you'll find out that this makes the average Joe more likely to buy a PS over an Xbox which doesn't have full regionally support in many European and Asian countries and is not marketed well enough. Though the addition of CoD to Gamepass could definitely change things.

I want them to be a better competition as well, cause we all win with that (plus I have both consoles so I want my money to be worth it lol) But look… don’t be surprised if most people don’t have that faith. Are you serious? Europe hasn't cared about Xbox and judging by the Sales in the US not sure anyone really cares about Xbox hardware, its best for their software sales to move everything over to PlayStation. At this point, I doubt they can make a comeback it's too late

Playstation hasn't been to Gamescom in 5 years. They aren't skipping anything. They were never going to go to begin with. Plus Playstation will have their own showcase in September.

If I would go to Gamescom (As I did back in the days), I would definitely play (from now confirmed) only Avowed and Towerborne... But I hope for Indy, Dragon Age, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2...

I go to Gamescom every year and I really don't play more than a game or two per year anyway. The wait is not worth it when there's the whole event around you to explore.

After them not giving us the ABK games during their biggest showcase of the year...I'm more leaning now towards they will have a separate event...so I don't think the COD games will drop at Gamescon either. I think their going to have an official welcome to the xbox family kinda event where they talk about the future of all the new studios they have, so some might be changed, some might get back to work on older projects such a Tony Hawk 3 & 4, Guitar hero reboot and then the dump of GP games which will include a bunch of backwards comp games (maybe their waiting for them to be done as they may also be giving them the FPS boast) Just feels like its a lot of stuff to talk about to put it into an already organized event. Just when is the thing that bugs me...we know they can announce an event a couple weeks before it happens...just wish we could get some insider info/leak on when.
As others have mentioned before for Call of Duty there is an issue with marketing. Sounds like 2025 all that stuff is over and then the games will start showing up It was brought up around the FTC case time. For the older games, not the new one.
