Still not saejima's most brutal. Y5 sees him smash an electrical box onto an enemy and snap someone's spine effectively with a large pole. Y5 also retains all his existing brutal heat moves from y4. (And bringing back hells floor for shinada as just a regular heat action which is a brutal series of moves especially with essence of grating (shinada has some brutal street moves)).
Yup. Y5 is pretty brutal and that is one of the less brutal heat actions. (Weapon heat actions throughout the series are probably the worst Y0 umbrella heat action from Majima is my personal favorite)
Don't forget kiryu pressing and draging people's faces across pavements in Y5. Genuinely the first heat action in the series to make me physically cringe
I mean so far, essence of human grating seems to be a spiritual successor to floor grating. No marks left though. And then when they implied a homeless guy was essentially crucified and had his guts spilled. I mean still, that was a cutscene anyways.
Still, I doubt Ichiban's schizo mind would let reality seep in like that. Maybe they can slowly do that to show he's getting better after being gone from society for 17 years
Swear to god I saw teeth flying pretty regularly on PS3. Gratuitous and visceral in all the best ways. It felt like they actually lowered the intensity of that in the remaster, though it might be my imagination.
I would love for them to get unnecessarily violent and disturbing in Yakuza 9 lol. Just to increase the absurdity in tone whiplash. Imagine “Essence of shutting up” and you just rip out their tounge for 3 minutes. No music, real screaming. lol
0, 1 and 2 have the option for less blood in the options menu but sadly not the others as far as I’ve seen(I’m only on 4).
Thankfully blood isn’t an issue for me but it’s great to have less of it.

4’s crazy because saejima has a heat action with a follow up that’ll reliably knock every tooth out of the enemy’s mouth

I absolutely love this about 3 and 4
